DarkWing - faction feedback - Raekur - 08-05-2008 So I guess the options have been reduced to 2. 1. We create a history that represents us migrating to the Discovery Universe and the community accepts the fact that we will retain the part of our history being from out-system and RP our learning of the particular politics and the culture that is Discovery. Or. 2. DW calls it a wash and leaves. DarkWing - faction feedback - DW-Suzanna - 08-05-2008 ![]() @ Boss and Dusty Lens no, you missed the words "developed from" developed from does not mean "imported" DarkWing - faction feedback - Dusty Lens - 08-05-2008 Well heck, actually did spot that bit of wordage, why it seemed that when you have an established history and bring it with you into another joint (albeit doing a bit of tinkering) it's imported. By that same testament you might as well claim that the CR aren't imported. Their RP isn't imported, it was just developed form the original source when they came to the FL universe. Just to flesh out my view of things. DarkWing - faction feedback - DW-Suzanna - 08-05-2008 ![]() ...DarkWing is what it is......if you like it or loathe it, there certainly seems a lot of interest generated by DarkWing's presence here.;) DarkWing - faction feedback - Eternal - 08-05-2008 If the discussion is based on the very story of the faction. The created , original story of the DarkWing's is by far better then the BSG thing , just my 2 cents. I don't realy see a problem in creating alternative stories that can add to the Discovery comunity. Many say that the FL universe is rich as it is , but it seems that for some people it's not enought. When I look at the faction's list and I can't find a place for something that's enought to convince me that there is not enough choice , for me and apperenty for the DarkWing. I don't want to see the pure RP value of the DarkWing's STORY to be put on trial. I thought it was an unspoken rule here , that no one can say that the RP stories of others is good or bad. There in-game presence and behavior how ever are a totaly diffrent thing. I have never seen Darkwing's in the Omicron's. Realy I haven't , you never seem to be present there. I also read that you try to evade house space , yet most of the time I see you in Texas (NY house space) or one time near planet New Berlin in a Battleship. DarkWing - faction feedback - RParade - 08-06-2008 .. Personally, I utterly despise anything that blatantly contradicts the Freelancer setting. It'd be nice if, instead of some factions essentially plagiarizing the plot arc of other settings (or creating their own), they'd band together and revive one of the many dead factions on the server. Infact, I'd go so far as to say that it should be against the rules. With that said, the only DW I see flying anything less than a Battlecruiser on a regular basis is Suzanna. All of the other members I see are doing absurd things, like chasing down my Light Fighter in a battlecruiser. I'm not sure how or why this faction was approved for official status, and I tend to feel the same way about the BSG clowns aswell. DarkWing - faction feedback - RickJames - 08-06-2008 To me a faction needs to be a part of the freelancer Universe. It needs to have ties to other factions. It needs to have diplomacy towards everyone in Sirus. Player factions exist to improve on Freelancer and to aid in RP and politics by Rping their role in Sirus and how it affects all the other factions. House wars. Pirate wars. Alliances. Corporate wars. A player faction is supposed to highlight and show off the different traits of the different factions. What I would like from DW is some detailed history concerning its role in Sirus and its politics, diplomacy, neutrality, hostility, alliances, etc all. Its back story and origin are fine. However, it needs a Freelancer story. I really do not care about imports or developed from factions. As long as they put a good amount of effort in logically and realistically integrating their history and story with the other factions in Freelancer. As of 3 days ago the entire DW story concerning its role in Sirus and Freelancer is: Darkwing command received a DataStream from Kusari Naval forces offering a 12 billion-credit bounty on pirate TS Burgh. He was last spotted in Omicron Alpha. They immediately set out to trap him. When cornered near the northern section of Alpha, he jumped through an unmarked hole. Faction Id: mercs [bounty hunter id] NPC Alignment-BH Diplomacy- neutral with all except pirates Thats it. That is all anyone has to go on when dealing with you. No mention of Harvesters. No updated diplomacy. No zoi. No allowed ships/weapons. It just does not seem like any effort has been put into the integration of DW, Freelancer, and Discovery. Your attitudes throughout this thread are, We could really care less. This to me sucks. This is a faction feedback thread. You are supposed to take feedback and work with it. Instead you just argue and disagree with anything negative said about you. I dont want you folks to go. I want you folks to get to work with your RP. A number of the stock Freelancer factions have a large story behind them and their place in Freelancer. Those that didnt got one from the players who started a player faction with them. Now considering the DW was developed from somewhere else. Dont you think it fair and not much to ask that you develop your story and place in Sirus at least as much as people have done for the original Freelancer factions? DarkWing - faction feedback - CinderBlackWolf - 08-07-2008 I am going to start with a simple statement: It appears that nearly everyone else who has posted here that is not a DW has tried to show you the negitive things you do on a regular basis and in return, suggest ideas, possibilities and help that will improve upon what you have begun here. Now onto My Personal View, and it is just that, Mine. This view point does not nessisarily reflect those of other players or factions. I have to agree with Mr James in his latest post on many things. You have listed your diplomacy, but looking at it makes me feel like your view of everyone is nothing more than Hostile Zoners. Your ZOI is not even listed, yet on more than one occasion and post of yours, you claim to feel threatened in the Guard System you call home. YET, nearly all your other stories do not call that guard system Home. How can you feel so threatened by the activities of one group near that System when you barely refer to it as Home for you. You refer on many occasions to a place that does not exist in Disco nor that any other player would have the ways or means of getting there to even try to do anything with or against you and yours. Next point, practicly everything everyone has said, you have argued with or tried to burn down with arguments of one kind or another. You asked for feedback, and from what it looks like to me, you do not like what your hearing. Role Play, well, other than exactly one time and a very short one at that, I have never seen or encountered any DW player trying to create or actively participate in ongoing RP with anyone anywhere. That includes the system you are so worried about. On more than one occasion, its been outright hostilities starting from the DW. You have to complain why when one Battle Ship is ambushed by a large force, well ask yourself what did that Ship do to require such overwhelming force. What did others of your Clan do to earn such relations. I can provide a neat example that actualy generated a true Role Play oppertunity not only for one faction I am part of, but for at least 4 or more other factions and clans. Said example actualy had a DW member involved, but do you know the kind of RP that he tried to have? 7 SOB ships and his Battle Cruiser against, count it, ONE Bomber. And that DW went out of his way to travel three full systems to get there. Looking at your Faction ID, you claim to be Mercs with BHG Tag. Mercs are for hire are they not? Yet I have seen and heard on several occasions that you are not for Hire and do not take bounties, one of those times I myself under a compleatly unrelated character tried to contact the only known Bounty Hunter online at that time, which was a DW member and was compleatly ignore. I know it was an active player because I had seen the locations of the system that DW was in change twice. So are you Mercs, Bounty Hunters, or more like a Military Unit, which from the feel of your History that Suzi put on the first post, it seems more like a Military unit than Mercs. Back to Diplomacy for a moment. Just because one group is flaming Red to you does not mean they are naturaly hostile. Some factions build up their characters quickly that way, yet it is the player who you should consider first, not a Tag. Tags can change easily. ID's do not. And by the way a great many ID's read, they are not your enemy, yet your clan has acted more on the IFF than on the ID involved. I also would like to note the time zone thing. I am on at many an odd hour due to my profession, and I look to see who is on and where for RP oppertunities. I have to agree with many voices here, I have yet to see a single DW visit any Omicron system at all, not to mention quiet a few of the DW still travel through New york Space on a regular basis. Again, my personal opinion, and I will tend to ramble on from point to point so bare with me please. Ship types. Something I have to agree with so many others here. I have never personaly seen anything less than a Cruiser Class or heavier in the DW arsenal. Now that you claim all DW members have Bombers or Fighters is something entirely new to me. I have Seen a fighter/bomber squaderon take on and take out destroyer groups before. An Example: New York few days ago: With nothing on heavier than a couple of Bombers, 7 players took on and killed two Hacker GB's and an Outcast Destroyer. You point out your current primary antagonist use a lot of Caps, well, consider that teh numbers they have are actualy limited and defined by their Faction write up. At best, they have 6 or 7 Talacra LIGHT Cruisers and 2 Pretorians. Nothing heavier than that. You have several battle Cruisers and Battle Ships. I have seen mabey one DW gunship, the rest are Cruiser weight or greater, so class for class, ship for ship, you out power your enemy, yet complain when they set out to hammer on you in force the VERY same way you treat them. And before you say it, for those who know and are involved, we all know you base all your hostility one incident which keeps being brought up and used as your excuse to go to war. So, when some one else steps in and levels a statement you did not like, from what i have see, you respond with more threats and a declaration of more potential hostility. No mention of peace making efforts. No mention of Diplomacy involved with either major group your currently dealing with. Both groups have their Diplomats who would be MORE than welcome to begin talks and RP with the DW other than to start shooting or to start running when you come with the heavy end of the hammer. Thats it for my current train of thought though likely to edit this as time permits and I can think of more than I feel needs to be added or to simply get said so I can focus on more detailed and more enjoyable RP. I would bet good hard credits that Raekur is going to put the flak cannon to MY opinion and feed back. And final the Word: If something constructive actualy comes of this, I will not only be shocked and pelased, but I would be more than willing to reopen more reasonable RP with the DW. DarkWing - faction feedback - DW-Suzanna - 08-07-2008 ![]() I have had quite enough of this....The fact that I have over 400 hours in a fighter, far more than in my other ships, often rp with people in game etc, including escorting and helping players that ask, is completely ignored and all I see is a load of complaints in this thread. Do you see me or most other DW posting endless complaints on other factions? "do this do that"... No......why? because most of us respect other people enough to let them get on with their rp in their factions as they see fit. What I am seeing here is not what I consider condusive to a fun online gaming experience. I am discussing DW future here and will post shortly on our decision. DarkWing - faction feedback - Jaysom_Blackfist - 08-07-2008 the only DW I have ever had real trouble with RP and wanting just PVP is DW-Agusta. As I stated in another posts about BHG members Agusta does not RP that often the few times I say them RP all they were doing was complaining about our harvester units about everything and everthing. they also make it a point to switch to their battleship Shi'tan evertime they see us in Omega-15, when we base camp Bornholm they then start to pm us insults because we dont want to use a telarka light cruiser and one bomber against a battleship. I havnt had any problems really with any other DW and I personally have seen one DW in Omicron-Delta once.I didnt see them with my own eyes but I saw they where they Via the Player list. the Main Reason I check that before going on my Harvester unit is because I know Shi'tan likes to sit Right outside bornholm and as soon as we undock start blasting us. I had a small RP with a DW-Apache I belive the name of the vessule was We saw him coming into Omega-15 we intercepted him and started a RP and Querying him and they told us he was bring Alcohol into the Omega-56. So what did we do we left him alone because he wasnt doing anything hostle. If we really wanted to do like Agusta/Shi'tan does we could of jumped him with two light cruisers a preafect and a corsair gunboat, But we didnt we RP'd it and let him go because as I said before he was not deemed hostile at that moment. |
