RE: Faction Activity - January - LunaticOnTheGrass - 01-02-2014 Code: .:j:.Rattlehead New London 161 0 10^ That's the playerlist I just took down. From my count (correct me if I'm wrong), I counted 19 Official-Faction ships logged in, out of 98-ish online players. Laura C and Silver are completely correct. The playerlist above has approximately 1/5th Official-faction players logged on. Who knows what all the others are, but clearly most of them are either uninterested or unwilling to attempt to join an official faction for whatever reason. I'm not sure how to fix the problem, but I'm thinking that official factions are going to slowly decline as they have been unless the Disco powers-that-be take some kind of means towards combating this. RE: Faction Activity - January - Mímir - 01-02-2014 You could ask indies what would make them join a faction rather than speculate about it. Just a thought. Mimir what would make you join a faction? RE: Faction Activity - January - blubba - 01-02-2014 Official factions leaders and their factions have put forward suggestions. Ideas for changes etc. The official response was to ignore them, belittle them or attack their factions. Are you surprised by the faction leaders indifference? Really? Quote:Fact is that 70% of factions are on the life support with few people trying to keep them alive for sake of keeping it alive. No purpose can be seen so far. Hope for the best future maybe?Well said....sadly. What's bizarre is that it keeps pushing on down the same route every update despite it's clearly not developing well in that direction. Disco has stopped focusing on it's strengths and concentrated on everyone else's. Problem is, it's not very good at them and should have stuck to what it did best. RE: Faction Activity - January - Mímir - 01-02-2014 Not me, but ask in general. I already wrote my pov as a casual gamer, but I am completely sure there are other players out there who would be suitable to join a faction but don't for various reasons. It would be better to ask them about those rather than go "it must be because they want no restrictions, don't care for roleplay, and don't speak english - admins pls punish" and then slip back into faction in-activity, right? I mean how about being a little bit positive, optimistic, and pro-active and do things a little bit differently for once? RE: Faction Activity - January - Mao - 01-02-2014 At the beginning of this discussion people suggested that disco is dying slowly because there's nothing new to the game. Partially, they are right. However, PoBs are new things but they're not enough, it seems. So, I have a suggestion: start working with a dynamic lore (something like Clan Wars in World of Tanks). Territorial battles and all kinds of events moderated by a team of admins and where only the official factions can take part. Organize them daily, or at least every weekend and you'll give people something to play for (except grinding credits for the next battleship or carrying supplies to their station). And make the results visible to everyone as in game news and forum announcements. You can even make a map to show the modifications. "This week, Gallic forces were defeated in Manchester and the eastern part of the system was secured. Grids # # # and # now belong to the Liberty Navy." RE: Faction Activity - January - Drakarska - 01-02-2014 Just an observation from my brief time on the server, but after a (abeit quick) look in the official factions thread, it appears that an individual is typecast into a specific role. In addition, there appears to be a great deal of rules, rigid structure, and limited RP potential. Where as with an Indy, you can RP however you want to as long as it stays within the parameters of your tag. This especially gives a new player more of a open ended type of RP versus a rigidly structured one. I created a Corsair character with the intent of possibly joining an official faction, but after looking at the ones available from my brief reads, I haven't made up my mind yet. Perhaps when I actually take the time and fully read the available info on the official factions I will eventually make up my mind on what to do. But as it stands now, I am having a lot of fun RP'ing an indy. Just my 2 cents. RE: Faction Activity - January - Silver - 01-02-2014 (01-02-2014, 10:41 PM)Mímir Wrote: Not me, but ask in general. The direction of this mod has been indie oriented for the last... 3 updates? So much positive that it got negative. <3 RE: Faction Activity - January - Sath - 01-02-2014 (01-02-2014, 10:48 PM)Dacul Wrote: At the beginning of this discussion people suggested that disco is dying slowly because there's nothing new to the game.
