Admin Notice : New ID in need of a name - Drake - 09-29-2008 'Maverick ID' has a nice sound to it, but 'Special Roleplay ID' would also work well. Admin Notice : New ID in need of a name - bearlee89 - 09-29-2008 Just another friendly reminder: "Lets at least make some sort of attempt to name the ID in such a way that it is roleplay related...somehow, even if remotely..." and this isn't flood >< =] I still say Special Service ID Admin Notice : New ID in need of a name - monsterlancer - 09-29-2008 ' Wrote:Just another friendly reminder: Sorry, but some will still say that it will defeat the purpose or RP and some will say it helps RP. Some are good on the RP and others not so good. Politically speaking it is one of those special intrest things. (read into it what you will) I still say call it what it is: OORP ID (with ADMIN and/or Community approval. It is suggestive without pigeonholing anyone into a too specific role. Maverick connotes a rebellious non-compliance with authority, which is not necessarily related in any way to the reason(s) for having this ID. Admin Notice : New ID in need of a name - sgrana - 09-29-2008 the most generic id say would be simply pilot Admin Notice : New ID in need of a name - jammi - 09-29-2008 I'm with AoM's VIP ID. From wiki: Quote:Special operations are military operations that are considered "special" (that is, non-conventional).You would be ruling out special characters based on the "freelancer" (or generic, for this matter) archetype (which don't have any governing authority) to begin with. One could say that a generic ID would do for those instances, but what if someone comes up with a pirate that flies a Titan+Inferno or Sabre+Coladas combination and that isn't affiliated with neither Corsairs nor Outcasts? They would "need" to be marked just the same. Even if you're talking about military associated characters, the ID would be then marking the character with an activity that isn't necessarily associated with the story. The player can be portraying just an ordinary pilot (as far as his activities go) that, for some reason, ended up with a non-ordinary ship. EDIT: In short, you'd be pigeonholing the character to a 'special operations' agent's role. EDIT2: If that's the case, "Special Operative" is better than "Special Operations" because you'd be implying that what's special is the character and not the role that it performs. Also, it somewhat weakens the automatic association with military affairs. Though you still retain the association with some sort of organization. Admin Notice : New ID in need of a name - pchwang - 09-29-2008 I'm going to agree with Gronath here... Special Operative sounds like the best way to go. |
