No, I'm not apologizing for something I didn't do, and it's not helping that you're derailing your own thread. All in all, this thread should be locked, if no one is going to bother to make examples of the l1 l2 issues, rather than going "no ur argumen is WONG I AM ALWAYS RIHT" Set messages are useful for scenarios such as: Piracy, Nomads, police factions doing cargo inspections. Your character just doesn't want to get shot at and die. You are blaming a trader for the lack or RP, yet the OP is not focused on traders only and the rule is talking about ATTACKING. but fine. A trader will run. time does not give you the reason to not RP. Your comment that someone snaced you is rather your own fault, as well as perhaps the other guy's fault for not RPing as well? You provide too little evidence. Not everyone has time to waste over FL for hours on end. Time doesn't give you a reason not to RP, hooh, that's new. It takes time to type, ergo there is such a thing as time preventing you from RPing. Also, the focus -is- on the trader, because the trader is the subject of all of the hubub, just as much as the hunted is the subject of a hunt, that being that it's about getting something from the subject. ![]() RP is a collaborative effort, everyone has to throw in quality for it to come out as quality RP as a whole. Also, getting SNAC'd is your fault, because you could have avoided getting SNAC'd. You didn't. Ergo, you suffer the consequences of not avoiding getting SNAC'd. Also, for too little evidence, this is an argument of opinions, not one of someone trying to prove X, Y, or Z is true. No wonder Auzari said the thread should get locked. RE: One of those /1 /2 critique threads. - Stoner_Steve - 10-23-2016 I believe the system is fine as is. If someone is going to do the bare minimum before attacking me making them do "more" rp before the attack isn't going to make it "better" rp Personally if someone is just out for the kill I'd rather it be over in a hurry RE: One of those /1 /2 critique threads. - Shush Muppet - 10-23-2016 (10-23-2016, 07:04 PM)nOmnomnOm Wrote: first of all, what anger in the OP? First, I was commenting on the general rage within this thread as a whole; not singling you out . Second, I am blaming the economy and extreme time demand of the game for frequent instances of traders being unwilling to stop and RP, which forces players trying to stop them to use preset chat lines if they have any hope of interaction. Third, I'm not giving anyone an excuse to avoid RP, I am simply attempting to show both sides of an issue and the 'why' behind player actions. As far as the SNAC episode... here's what happened in 2010-ish when I was still new. I had a heavy fighter and had tracked a wanted pirate to a system. I exited the trade lane near him and proceeded to type: "Ah! What do we have here?" He shifted his attention and started heading for me. No comms from him yet. "You've got a nice bounty on your head, friend. And I'm here to collect." SNAC!!! *dead* All because I was typing it out and didn't use pre-formed engagement messages. All that to say, just because one party decides to roleplay, you can't always expect the other party to respect that decision and not take advantage of it. RE: One of those /1 /2 critique threads. - nOmnomnOm - 10-23-2016 in your snac story the pirate had broken the rules of engagement. That's an important part to consider in the story you are sharing with us. It would have been something different if he had followed the rules just like you were trying to do. RE: One of those /1 /2 critique threads. - Shush Muppet - 10-23-2016 I don't think you're seeing both sides of the issue... |
