To my fellow Outcasts - Orin - 12-17-2008 blubba, this is obviously a serious issue. Both sides have merit and reason, because on one side, fairplay is wanted, but in recompense, people who play this game are suddenly barred from flying certain pixels? It's dangerous water when you want to restrict someone from doing something not sanctionable. Arguing agaist something like this is not off topic and arguing "just for the sake of it". Please, think before you throw such accusations. In the end, I don't agree with stopping people from playing how they want to play. Talk to the people in question and teach them, it's hard, but it's better than PvP whoring them if they don't do what a few people who happen to run a faction tell them to. To my fellow Outcasts - Zapp - 12-17-2008 Quote:because on one side, fairplay is wanted, but in recompense, people who play this game are suddenly barred from flying certain pixels It's more than simply wanting fairplay, and this is more than a game. Why do I say that? It's just a game to me, but several people vest their emotions deeply into this, and take everything personally. Barring people from "flying certain pixels" promotes an overall better atmosphere on both the forums (less flaming) and the game (more fun for most everyone). At the end of the day, more than likely no action is going to be taken due to a lack of consensus, but that doesn't stop us from discussing it til we're blue in the face. Here's a thought: the admins have said they won't ever restrict capital ships by their power, you don't trust faction leaders, so what about completely neutral and (gasp!) unbiased people? Just think about it for a while. To my fellow Outcasts - Jihadjoe - 12-17-2008 ' Wrote:blubba, this is obviously a serious issue. Infact the sole purpose of the thread was to attyempt to instill a sence of fairplay in people I have seen using decidedly unfair means to win. Using unrealitic ammounts of capitol ships to gainm the upper hand in pvp. This thread was -not- a faction/indy issue. It is a fairplay issue that needs to be addressed by everyone. Now, if you all want to turn it into faction/indy stuff then you're welcome to derail my good intentions. Thank you all. To my fellow Outcasts - Orin - 12-17-2008 I know your opinion, Zapp. Unfortunately, it's not going to change mine. I know what you volley for, and I agree to an extent, but in the end do not agree with the means. Joe: You fellows start talk of restricting caps and their actions. What do you really expect, sir? You can always use your pretty mod powers if you think it's off topic, though it isn't. To my fellow Outcasts - Grumblesaur - 12-17-2008 ' Wrote:RoS. Gah, Jura thinks I insulted the guy in the RoS. To my fellow Outcasts - Zapp - 12-17-2008 If you ask me, there should be a requirement for flying a capital ship. Or any ship, really. Roleplay. That's it! That too much to ask? People that exhibit ooRP behavior should be given short-shrift, no matter what size ship they're in. I believe we can agree to that point, at least? People having fun in big ships is all fun, but without roleplay it shouldn't be tolerated. Teach them if you can, but when it comes down to it there should be a reckoning, and the ooRP has to go, either by education or force, harsh as that sounds. And there's the root of the issue. Not capital ships or restricting RP, or independents and factions, but RP and ooRP. Even faction members exhibit ooRP, and that should be dealt with same as if an independent did. Can everyone agree with the above? To my fellow Outcasts - Grumblesaur - 12-17-2008 ' Wrote:Umm what? I must be missing something. I saw the message dump post. Said something about 'lack of respect'. Seeing 'RoS' jogged my memory. To my fellow Outcasts - Jihadjoe - 12-17-2008 ' Wrote:Joe: You fellows start talk of restricting caps and their actions. What do you really expect, sir? I'm not going to use my mod powers on a trhead I started as people would start screaming about abuse of power. Wouldn't they. To my fellow Outcasts - Orin - 12-18-2008 Yes they would. Zapp, I do agree that RP is needed, but this conflicts against even situations where it is apparent. The registration committee may simply not like how someone uses their ship, therefore they are PvP whored. I don't agree with that, and believe that teaching should be the only option in every situation, even the hard ones. |
