RE: DiscoveryGC ID Overhaul - Official & Independent [Arioch's Proposal] - Karlotta - 05-24-2018 Did they say why and suggested ways to improve on it? It is a bit disappointing really. I had spent 25+ workhours on this project, I believe we deserved a few more words from the admins than just a typical "No."
RE: DiscoveryGC ID Overhaul - Official & Independent [Arioch's Proposal] - Foxglove - 05-27-2018 I can't speak for the admins, but I am glad this did not get implemented because it failed at doing what it wanted to, which is make IDs simpler. You do not make things simpler by adding more text. Most people here are also used to the current ID system and a new one would take getting used to, which would go contrary to making it easier. At the end of the day, most IDs are fine, and those that are not can be amended when it is necessary for these single IDs. You don't need to redo everything for that. RE: DiscoveryGC ID Overhaul - Official & Independent [Arioch's Proposal] - Thyrzul - 05-27-2018 A system clearly defining the ID limitations in accordance to three distinct categories - what you can do anywhere, what you can do only in your ZoI, what you can't do at all - would have been better, more easily understandable, than what we have now. Just because keeping the current system is more convenient as we don't have to learn new things* doesn't mean it's better in any regard, it'd rather mean people are opposed to changes out of convenience.
*There wouldn't be anything new to learn either way, the content is the same, just better organized. I'm sad this didn't make it, and I'm sad people don't want new things because of either laziness or misunderstanding. I agree, and also with Thyrzul. Yes, there were some things could have been improved with the proposal (such as not changing current permissions/restrictions but just the way they are presented, and using fewer words), but people's willingness to do work that will improve the game should have been accepted, by giving the reasons why the proposal wasn't implemented and giving the chance to improve on it. RE: DiscoveryGC ID Overhaul - Official & Independent [Arioch's Proposal] - Lythrilux - 05-27-2018 The proposal has the right idea, but it makes the ID descriptions wordier (and thus require more scrolling), which needs to be avoided. |
