Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Errant.Venture - 06-17-2009 Hmm I owuld have to say yes its oorp, but then i wouldnt really impose a 3million dollar "tax" unless it had about a 5 k cargo hold. but if thats his attitude, i would just space him, and make it expensive Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Colonel.Tigh - 06-17-2009 ' Wrote:Youre calling the Police in System chat? shure, works like a charm. Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Colonel.Tigh - 06-17-2009 that is the plan. but its in RP. Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Derkylos - 06-17-2009 ' Wrote:It also gets you killed about 20x faster. If the pirates really wanted to do things right, they'd just fly up in their transports, explode the other ship, and take the goods and some hostages. But there is no interaction there and that's much less fun. My take is that it's far better to pirate for less because it increases the chances of people going by again. When people are pirated for a lot, it seems they go out of their way to avoid such instances again. Where's the fun for you as a pirate there? Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Montezuma/Kukulcan - 06-17-2009 I think it should be made OORP, think that the loss of one of those ships would cost, in RP, a serious amount more than the 2 mil or so the pirate charges. I hate that kind of thing, as it kills RP and is not really any fun for the pirate (or police), i actually paid a RFP guy 6 mil to let me keep my slaves once (which btw, led to some EPIC RP), even if they only cost 4 mil to buy. It would make no sense if modern ships that were boarded by Somali pirates ( or any other pirates, just used Somalians just to relate to the news recently), asked to be blown up! Well, while I'd like to agree in theory - a rule like this would have to be complimented with a bunch of complicated rules, to make sure pirates don't overtax people out of greed or desire to kill traders. So what's the limit? 2 millon? "2 million" might sound good, but not not for all traders. There's big ones and small ones. What if you have 225 cargo hold? 2 million? It would have to be relative to the trader's cargo hold - and that is already a bit much to bother calculating while making sure the trader stays put. "2 million" also makes sense if you for example get 4 million in profits on a 5-leg run. If you choose to run 1-leg runs 5 times instead, for 800k each - being taxed 2 million every time would kind of suck. We really don't want a system fixed in rules that depends on ship size, and their route... It also puts in place a "legal" system to harass people. Demand 50 million - and kill them. Repeatedly. I for one would be very careful with something like this. And yeah, I can think of RP situations like your slave situation, where I'd pay more than they are worth too, but I don't want to legalise a system that can make people force me to pay rediculous amounts every time. This would make solo trading very hard, and possibly force people to group into mass-convoys, wich in turn leads to massive pirate fleets - with huge pirate battles as a result, and not everyone will approve of this either... Quite frankly, I'd much rather leave things as it is. mac Traders: "Kill me now" OORP? - Montezuma/Kukulcan - 06-17-2009 ' Wrote:Quite frankly, I'd much rather leave things as it is.I have little problem with the way it is, it is just that a trader in a 100 mil ship, coming out of the trade-lane, and being asked to pay a couple of mil, then asking to be blown up sounds rediculous. |
