Background: Having been born on Leeds, industry and mining has been part of my life from a very young age, it's in my blood you could say. Like my father, and countless generations before him, I have been a slave for the dogs that are BMM. No doubt you've heard of them. Everyone has, but not for the right reasons. From the age of twelve I was forced to earn a wage, working in one of many factories in my district sorting scrap metal for recycling. I hated it. Crammed in a giant warehouse with a bunch of other kids, conveyor belts never stopping. Horrendous conditions. You should have seen the accidents. When I finally did manage to get off of the surface, it was through pure chance. I was caught red handed nicking this bloke's shuttle, silly old sod thought I was his pilot. Anyway, didn't take much for him to realise, but rather than turning me in, he gave me a chance. Which as it turns out was all I needed. Flew shuttles and freighters for him carrying people and goods all over Bretonia, cause that all had to end when he died. Nothing sinister, he was an old fella. After that I fell back in with BMM, but this time in vacuum. Mighty change from on the surface, this time if anything went wrong you were toast. I thought it'd be quite cushy to fly one of those remote mining drones, the Edison things. Bloody things hardly ever worked, they were old even by the oldest bloke's standards. Sadly, that wasn't the worst thing I saw while in Dublin. I did serve some time in the Armed Forces, but I don't like talking about it, not after what happened. Not after that. I'm looking to escape my shackles in Bretonia, I just need to get out. It has been my cage for too long. |

This is Professor—ugh—Captain Rust Kreissman, master and commanding officer of the civilian deep space explorer The Reliable. I am submitting this application following a prior discussion with a Bristol captain, with the understanding that this filing should be considered a collective application: myself as commanding officer, and my remaining eleven crewmates as attached personnel.
