Fairplay - Zelot - 03-06-2009

God this topic is like bad pizza. I forgot to throw it out last night, so it's just sitting on the table when I wake up going bad.

Ok, I am in love with the distinctions being made here. Tic says he's a very honorable player, who doesnt gank people. Apparently except 4 on 1 on a Chim in the Taus. Or Corsair fighters in A Battleship. I would have been much more behind this thread if it were anyone but Tic writing it. Sorry Skoko, I thought maybe he had changed till I saw his last post.

I didn't make this thread because of one incident, where i got gang banged, but becaue of numerous ones like that which happen daily on Disco. You speak something about 4 BAFs on your Chimaera. Come on man compare Templar and Chimaera. 3 or 4 on 1 isn't a problem, but 6 + 10 NPCs support on 1 is. If it was 3 or 4 on one i would not complain. But imo anything above 3 on 1 in equal ships is not fairplay. And since it was in Tau 31, i can imagine you hidden near the battleship there, which has a firepower of like 10 fighters.

What ever char i am on, i always watch out to make it fair play for everyone, from my side at least.

Got to say, doesnt seem to get it, when he starts a thread to complain about ganking, when he obviously has no problem doing it to others.

Any good player will tell you, it's not about the number of ships it's about the skill of the pilot. So Tic its not that 3 vs 1 is ok but 5 vs 1 is not, and the fact that you took down two of them speaks to your skill, if they hadn't brought so many you might have won.

Last point, you dont want to fight against un-even odds....run. To many people here think that they have to stand bravely against the oncoming horde, fight until thier death. You know what, when I start to get out numbered I run. Why complain about unfair odds when you could have just turned tail and run, the same thing a blood dragon npc would try to do if he was out numbered. Why would you stay against unbeatable odds? That just seems stupid to me. Too many people prefer to die than run.

Like I said at the begining. If you want a totaly fair fight, get in touch with the other side ahead of time.

Plenty of people with the ability to lock this thread have, instead, posted here to hopefully give a bit of common sense and decency to and otherwise silly thread.

I personally enjoy keeping such threads open a little bit longer to see if a useful member of the community might take the opportunity to do something other than seize another opportunity to be a self serving jerk.

As to fairplay: Ayuh. Sure is.

Fairplay - Ceoran - 03-06-2009

hmm... yes, fairplay does exist, even on disco, everywhere in sirius. The point is that it's hard to figure out who of your enemies is interested in a fair fight and who is not if they are in a large group. Maybe one of them is even trying to make it fair and talking to his mates in group, you wouldn't know it.
I myself prefer a 1on1 on equal ships and would not enter a fight if the odds are already bad for the enemy, but if I would be the one being in the fight right from the beginning I would not fall back because an outnumbering backup arrived. Usually my enemy is shooting at me at that point anyway.

Asking for a fair fight before you rush into it helps most of the time. We just had a single OPG in Alpha asking for a fight. Sindroms and me showed interested in it. I arrived first and so it became my fight while Sindroms stayed a little bit away and watched, hoping for my defeat (sorry again for making it that boring for you). Well, it was a very long fight, but he did not engage to speed it up. So all the guys yelling about lacking fairplay in Alpha should better watch their tongue. Fairplay is everywhere, as black sheep are.

btwin same case 1 redcat vs 1 cat and numerous chimaeras armed with kusarian sux-guns is eaqual;)you can just ignore chimmas and focus on cat while nukespam and hope foolowing chimas just explode
I am not Hobart. As i said, you talk about what you don't know.

Tic's BAF character is Rodney.Trotter (Challenger)

his BAF independent is for example HMS.Rodney (Bretonia Battleship), you know the one that used to hunt 1-2 Chimaeras around in Taus....

so it is indeed interesting when he's the one complaining about "fairplay".
No HMS-Rodney is not my battleship, but i do fly it on occasions, and i never went to Tau's with it.

Well yes let me see, the few BAF on Chimaera wasn't me.
I attack 4 or 5 bombers in a battleship, yep that ain't fair.
I open fire in one battleship on another battleship, still not fair.
My bomber gets in Theta/Delta/Kappa attacked by 10-12 corsair Preatorians/Titans/Gunbats, it's still unfair on my part.
I'm in a fight on BAF, i see unfair odds, i disengeage even though superior officer is ordering me to attack, yep, very unfair from me.

All in all i'm a very unfair player.

Back to topic:

I'm not here blaming the KNF alone for this, but everyone. Every single faction/indy group i encountered does this, with exception if some fair players are in the group, regardelss of the home system. This incident with KNF is what ticked me off and made me make this thread.

I made this topic to make people realise that they can at least try to make the game fun for everyone, but instead i get flamed for things someone else did on their characters..

Fairplay - Dashiell - 03-06-2009

ok people, cool down.

stop pointing fingers.

Tic has a a very good point for making this topic: reminding people that sometimes you can`t just jump in and start blasting.

try to think about that next time you run into a furball.:)

Fairplay - JakeSG - 03-06-2009

Fair play exists. Just, y'know, from relatively few players.

Fairplay - SGTMatt - 03-07-2009

It is sounding like a nursery in here.

Fairplay - Montezuma/Kukulcan - 03-07-2009

Of course fair play does exist, just some people have different ideas of what is "fair" and what is not.

To be honest , i agree with Tic... quite a lot actually. When i left disco a while back this was one of the main reasons. Ive had more fun with lulwutting indies who had at least a shread of fairplay than with some factionised players ( im not mentioning any specific case , but just what i foundfor the most part). At least when i came back things were looking up a bunch. Ive found people with both qualities, fairplay and good RP. But itll probably just be a matter of time till i get pissed off again and leave... meh.
