Quote:Sounds like there is a case for the Enclave to have attacked illegally. They should cease and desist IMMEDIATELY, await the decision of the GM, pay compensation for the current damage, and be banned from attacking for a fortnight or more. No there absolutely isn't any reason why should Enclave stop the siege. There are many factions which are just friendly and won't be displayed as Allies, so why wouldn't they be included if they are just friendly. Just stop this hypocrisy because GMs probably won't even skim through this thread of "Please don't hurt my PoB" full of pityful excuses. RE: Dumb stuff harms the game - Jeuge - 05-29-2020 What is the purpose of this discussion? RE: Dumb stuff harms the game - Lemon - 05-29-2020 Q: how long is the time between declaration and attack? E.g. As an indie it'd be cool if the defender of high cores had e.g. a week to send RP requests Know the exact time of siege that long ahead And recruit indies and freelancers for money for the defense Boom, you have a mini event Instead of the current sieges that are worse to witness than watching paint dry RE: Dumb stuff harms the game - Oggdo Bogdo - 05-29-2020 (05-29-2020, 11:17 AM)Relation-Ship Wrote: Q: how long is the time between declaration and attack?8 hours for core 1, 24 hours for every other core RE: Dumb stuff harms the game - Jeuge - 05-29-2020 (05-29-2020, 11:17 AM)Relation-Ship Wrote: Q: how long is the time between declaration and attack? They just need to connect and defend their shit. There's not even a discussion to be had on this. Your Pob's under attack, you defend it. RE: Dumb stuff harms the game - Lemon - 05-29-2020 24 hours is way too low to do anything on forum RP and get responses and muster indies Just make it 3+ days, 7 for high cores that were around for years Under condition the owner declares active defense and sets RP recruitment threads So can do the attackers And you will have mini events without any effort on devs part RE: Dumb stuff harms the game - Venkman - 05-29-2020 (05-29-2020, 11:25 AM)Relation-Ship Wrote: 24 hours is way too low to do anything on forum RP and get responses No. RE: Dumb stuff harms the game - Thunderer - 05-29-2020 "Dumb stuff harms the game" So what you're saying is that the game will be improved if all players left? RE: Dumb stuff harms the game - jammi - 05-29-2020 Just to clarify a point on the rules. The requirement for a base siege is not RP with the owner, it is sufficient RP period. The siege declaration thread and cooldown times exist on an OORP level to notify the owners, accounting for situations where the relevant RP does not involve the owners' characters. The reason for this is because a requirement to roleplay with the owners would be outright illogical at times. It very much makes sense for a House authority to contact the owners to demand they register or face the consequences. It would not make sense for a Molly or the Enclave to contact a BMM / Bowex / BAF station to politely notify them that they're coming to wreck their base. Those factions are fundamentally opposed to the station owners, and the only demand the owners could comply with that would satisfy those factions would be to deconstruct the station themselves. Ultimately, POBs were mechanically intended to be destructible, and the risk that someone may take the game up on that opportunity is inherent when you decide you establish one. The game does not differentiate between 'productive' or 'obstructive' POBs. They all have a health bar, with the hope being that if your POB provides a useful service, people will be invested in its defence. Despite this, as St Denis has pointed out, the balance for POB health/regen/upkeep isn't ideal and should really be looked at from the ground up. I hope this is a project that can be conducted in public, in the same way as the community ID rework that's currently ongoing. |
