Yeah ideally you'll have a nice group chat you can RP in while you sit staring at the side of a tradelane. Can get some good character development on the go.

Also as for this theory:

"In my opinion, asking for cash makes more RP sense. I'm going to start RP'ing the transfer of cash through "accounts" like banks essentially.

i.e. "Transfer 2mil from your bank account now. Comply, and this can be non-violent.""

Yeah bank accounts. So the trader goes to the police and they track you instantly? It's a bit clumsy. That said, I mostly pirate for money, so what do I know, I'm a bear! I eat the heads off fish!

Well, any of them can use the Pirate Transport.

But I'll stop with that now.:P

Outcast: Falcata, Sabre (not as easy, but can be done.)
LR: Barghest! Werewolf?
LH: Broadsword. Hypothetically, using Screamers and six hullbusters, you could do it in a Bayonet, but... it wouldn't exactly be easy.
Junker: The Pirate Transport would work better than the Slave Liner, I think. Also, Salvager.

The Waran is also available to all of them, though it fits the Junkers and Rogues better than it does the Hackers or Outcasts.

Now, if you want to go after cargo, <strike>Pirate Transport</strike> get a friend with a Pirate Train or Border Worlds Transport - or a Junker with a Salvager.

then split the profits, right?

Edit: and where do you get the warren? I here it has heck a power

Pirating - tansytansey - 05-06-2009

Real pirates use Greyhounds. Four sammaels, TCD and a nuke. Killed many Adv. trains who thought they could take me on. Also looted upwards of 50 million in my 30 something hours on that ship.

It's a Border Worlds Exports ship that is sold in New London, according to the wiki. It's at the top end of the Bomber Power Output ladder, though most of the bombers out there can match it. It's probably the closet thing to a Bhargest you can get, except I believe it lacks the 3rd seperate CD launcher. As I've never flown it, I can't attest to it's handling at all.

Dunno the exact differences between Pirate Transports and Slave Liners, but I would hazard that they are somewhat equal...possibly with the Slave Liner being a little better (if not, slavers are gonna have some trouble pirating all those OS&C guys in Liners...).

Salvager is a no-go for a solo pirate..."Halt!"..."Halt, please?"..."I'll pay you 2 mill to halt?"...lack of CD mount is a real pain when pirating...:P

Anddd....Recyclers. Big, slow, but nearly impossible for a transport to put a dent in, and fully capable of launching SNs into one...they might even be easier to solo GBs in than "regular" bombers...250 regens and a freighter shield adds a lot of durability.

Yeah, but I imagine you'd be able to pretty easily get backup. Junkers are relatively common among players, and they're quite popular among other pirate factions.

Pirate Transports, I believe, have more forward firepower, but less armor.

Pirating - Benjamin - 05-08-2009

Pirate transports have less armour and guns (8 compared to 10 forwards), but are around 100000 times smaller. It's more than possible to miss a pirate transport with an SN and even guns. Slave liner? Not a chance.

Pirating - Recoil9000 - 05-09-2009

ok, so I finally got my barghest:yahoo:

and oh that brave LRS-Manhattan.Burnning, flew 10k off of manhattan in a rogue destroyer and nearly got the whole fleet after him...

Oh, and if anyone wants to assist me in pirating for a split profit.... (with preferably a fighter or Gunship) send me a PM or a msg over skype

Pirating - Grumblesaur - 05-09-2009

For pirating, the first thing you want to do is pick a ship and/or faction. Next thing you need is a CD. Train CD recommended for larger ships.

Outcasts:
Falcata, Tridente Gunship

Lane Hackers:

Falchion, Bayonet, Broadsword, Hacker Gunship

Rogues/Mollies:
Hyena, Greyhound, Werewolf, Barghest, Rogue Gunboat, Bactrian

Corsairs:

Decurion, Gladiator, Titan, Praetorian, Corsair Gunboat

Red Hessians:
Loki, Odin, Thor, Red Hessian Gunboat

Other/Generic:
Griffin, Eagle, Roc II (MAYBE Zoner Gunboat), Crow, Marauder, Waran, Scimitar, Switchblade, Sabre, Civilian Freighters, Pirate Transport

==Light Fighters==
Falchions, Decurions, Hyenas, Lokis, and Griffins.

1 TCD, 4-5 hullbusters, 1 screamer mine dropper, a decent armor upgrade and a lot of balls. I do not recommend trying this in a Hyena, because it only has four forward-firing weapons.

==Heavy Fighters==
Switchblades, Greyhounds, Gladiators, Bayonets, Crows, Marauders

Again, 1 TCD. Other equipment can be arranged out in two ways:
All hullbusters, Screamer mine
All shieldbusters, Nuke mine
Armor very highly recommended.

==Very Heavy Fighters==
Werewolves, Titans, Sabres, Odins, Eagles

A lot easier here. Obviously, a TCD. The loadout can vary. Two debs/Four codes is fairly common. Remember weapon groups.
Have a Nuke mine for sure.
Armor doesn't necessarily have to be uber.

==Bombers==
Falcata, Barghest, Waran, Praetorian, Roc II, Thor, Broadsword

Trader's bane, especially the Barghest and Waran. TCD + SN is enough to persuade most traders to pay you. As for guns, Codes, Faction 9s, or debs.
Nukes or screamers, depending on your guns.
Heavy armor not necessary in low-population systems.

==Gunboats/Gunships==
Tridente, Corsair Gunboat, Hacker Gunship, Rogue Gunboat, Red Hessian Gunboat

TCD, duh. Guns can be anything from cerbs to razors. Aim carefully.

==Freighters/Transports==
Bactrian, Pirate Transport, Civilian Freighters

Most should be able to mount a CD. The ones that can just need the best guns they can mount (within RP). You can demand cargo or cash. Armor recommended if bombers are a common sight in the area.

That's all you need to know.
