RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - Traxit - 02-02-2025 the last two evenings were rather eventful ggwp RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - Eternal.Journey - 02-02-2025 That was a blast of a battle! Had an absolute blast, hope you guys did too! I will get around to a writeup, it may be awhile because my writing has been painfully blank but. I do think that such a mad fun bashing people event such that was this deserves some special recognition. Eternally sad I did not get to use my Repairship but. it is what it is. Thanks to everyone for being part of the insanity! RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - Hitman-76 - 02-02-2025 Final report of Duke Silverton, in service to the Core. (you guys are crazy haha, amazing event, totally would be victim to "incoming missile" times thirty again, 10/10) https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=206744 RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - Barrier - 02-02-2025 Some screenshots from overseeing the sieges: https://imgur.com/a/VAnFWPp Stay tuned for results and scores, later today or early tomorrow! RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - Antonio - 02-02-2025 Thanks everyone for participating, hope you had fun. We did a bit of experimenting with two things: 1. Splitting the objectives, to avoid a giant 40v40 furball with unplayable fps. Do you like this, or you prefer everyone clashing in 1 big battle? 2. Raising the stakes by putting canon bases on the line. Hakodate got blown up, Cairo and Capetown softened up for the Nomads to destroy next week. I’d like to know what the general feedback regarding the two is. Obviously we still cannot fully let players dictate canon lore with their non canon ships and no good way to account for skill, but with enough staff supervision and story planning there’s potential for more future events being higher stakes than a fully pre-determined outcome. RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - Kherty - 02-02-2025 Thank you all for the event! It was very fun! I'll post the finished version of the story I've drafted up for this event later, I hope it's fine! Here is a video! DAY 2
P.S.: Added a chapter where the combat section of the video starts, almost 1h is a lot! Cheers! - OCV-Ma'at-Sekhmet RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - Automata - 02-02-2025
RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - Irkalla - 02-03-2025 And here we go, small short thing from the perspective of my AI (Theta-A81) which in the end winded up escorting Mars. https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=206742 Flew both core AI VHF and core AI Bomber. I like the bomber better. If possible I'd like the forum title too. Once again thanks for this amazing event. RE: [Official Event] Heavy Rain - 9th.Legion - 02-03-2025 The event was crazy and awesome at the same time, It's been a while since i've experienced such emotions during battle. Reminded me of the good old days, when we had massive raids in Texas and California or in Leeds. All sides had its fair share of "Ace" players in Capital and Snub ships, which brought more challenge on both fronts. I honestly, did not expect for us to be able to defend Fort Carthage, it took me by surprise that both Battlecruisers survived. I did expect Battlecruiser Romales to be destroyed tho, the Core guys fought valiantly good, we stood no chance in Zeta overall and i was surprised, that we managed to destroy their Pomphei and Orion. Both siege days were extremely fun and awesome, plus a lot of newbie players took the chance to have fun in such a tense and massive brawl. It was a bit of a drag to constantly switch between Omicron Mu and Omicron Zeta fronts on the first day, cuz it was also quite laggy and i honestly was about to give up on that part. But then i saw how the Order side was pushing trough, so i decided to do the same by switching to Omicron Mu with my BC and suddenly we managed to take down Hakodate, luckily i took the kill with the laughable 19% dmg and my spirit was restored. I might sound like an idiot, but i do hope if the joint forces between Order and Blood Dragons are also mentioned in Hakodate's wreck(Infocard) ![]() To be honest, it was a good experience for my E\V/ dudes and i hope they did enjoy the fun as much as i did or even more. I am glad and proud, that a lot of E\V/ members were willing to participate and have a piece of the cake regardless the outcome. I would like to personally thank all pilots, that were fighting for the Orders(tagged/non-tagged), that includes all of the [TSK] members and their Leader @True Sons of Kusari for their effort in Omicron Mu and i would like to say, that your help IS APPRECIATED and without all of you fellas, i doubt we could've save Forth Carthage or destroy any objectives. - Win or loose, this event was a complete blast and i expect to see even more. We did a bit of experimenting with two things: Alright, Feedback time. In regards to the first point. I think with maybe a little better execution, this could be an epic thing for future events. I felt that both sides had elements of getting slaughtered by the opponents, for instance, The Core in Zeta massacred the Order fight and capped the PoB in like 30 minutes flat, Kusari side was mostly overwhelmed by Order Forces in Mu, partly due to having to come through from Tohoku as KOI/[KNF] Caps/snubs, and partly due to the pobs being right on top of Carthage (unlike Zeta, where such pobs were 12k towards Capetown). Dynamic forces and fights is a pretty sweet concept, right up until they end up being a group bailing on one side simply to all crush the other. Maybe a refinement in this area could be justified, as I have no doubt that day one put off alot of people as far as general experience goes. The second point I feel is also a great idea, but it also should be used for more than just lost assets. I consider it to be a good thing that we can have an affect on the game environment and its surroundings. Am I sad Kusari side lost the Hakodate? Yes, of course I am. It is a good staging midpoint between Tohoku and Mu. Did it need to happen? In all likelihoods, yes. There was alot on the line for the Order, Two key bases, so there had to be some form of deficit on us for each of the other sides. Whether it can be done to exercise some other options too, like expansion/loss of ZoI in a system, or gain/loss of assets, or even something simple and small as a gain in a specific commodity (maybe a cheaper buy-in on a specific item tied to IDs, much like buying OF ID's is tied to first owning the ID already?). I feel there needs to be some tweaks to events like these. Balancing was a bit of an issue, and it made a huge difference. Numerous counts of unbalanced fighting was noticed, and at several points it was rather unfun for particular people who either got hung out to dry by their allies, or had to cope with overwhelming odds against them. I also believe that this will only be plausible in certain scenarios, such as this one, where there is little in the way of Player to Player grudges to show and be a part of the fight. I believe that there will come a time where this will be on the table, and we will see a remarkably one-sided experience for certain sides in certain situations. |
