' Wrote:I mean take the Apocalypse situation, we now have a clear "Don't do this or this will happen" example of what poor RP can lead to. This needs to be clarified for people.
Some might think 'not shooting the people who own the bases you are using' is more than just common sense.. Not a good example.

' Wrote:Right, but lets take this:

There are no clearly defined rules for Role Playing. There is for PVP, but nothing on RP.

two more scenarios:

Number one:

Someone joins the forum, writes a beautiful story about say the Bretonian Royal family. Unfortunately it doesn't match up with Discovery Faction Canon.

Faction asks for it to be edited or ignored...

which is superior?

Number two:

Meta-gaming, this is a universal convention. An unwritten law of RP. But again unwritten, for most young RP-ers, they've never encountered it, or don't realize they are doing it. This should be codified somewhere for them to see, to learn from and so can avoid causing any problems with it.

Ie: seal loving...

i doubt any bretonian faction would ask a modderator to edit the story, and infact, unless the story is trying to change that factions roleplay, the factions have no reason to be asking for it to be edited.

However, if that person started roleplaying the queen ingame, i'm sure one of the faction players would ask them to stop.

Meta gaming / Power gaming rules

- Players are not allowd to use any info gained from the forums in game or in their own forum RP unless their character has RP access to said info.
- Players may not make up imaginary infrastructure in game to back up their RP.

arvg, are you looking for something like that?

Dab,

common sense is often something gained with age. There needs to be a conditional that says:

If you do this, then this will happen.

A clear cut warning, we have precedent now, it is good to now record the warning and ensure that others don't make similar mistakes and then complain the were not warned.

After all this is the point, warning players against pitfalls in RP.

Yes Kuthumii that is what we are looking at, if you refer back to earlier in the thread, that is what we have written down. But we also need justification for why this is the case. There needs to be a Why explaining it, even if you think it is common-sense.
