Admin Notice: Ship purchase restrictions - Elsdragon - 03-13-2010 All this adds is increased inconvienencefor white cell's, and makes procureing said ships even more oorp. Admin Notice: Ship purchase restrictions - Aphil - 03-13-2010 ' Wrote:Let me try to explain why this is being put in place also for white cells. Players, out of error, unawareness and similar reasons are buying ships, their ID's doesn't allow them to fly. These players, when seen, get sanctioned, and most often loose a lot of cash, since they are forced to change the ship, if they don't have the required rep status to get an appropriate ID for that ship. Well when you put it that way. I guess with a little fine tuning it could be a decent enough improvement. Admin Notice: Ship purchase restrictions - Sprolf - 03-13-2010 It's common sense to restrict ship classes that you can't use on your ID. I would agree with preventing people from buying battleships or 5ks when they can't use them, etc. The same would go for red cells, perhaps. Restricting white cells, however? No. Just. Plain. No. (In short, enforcing ID rules = good. Enforcing tech chart = bad. One is quite black and white and the other is very subjective.) But please, for the love of the SNAC, remove the no white cell thing. Admin Notice: Ship purchase restrictions - kuth - 03-13-2010 I'll chime in now. I am against this affecting white cells. Few reasons: Quote:Let me try to explain why this is being put in place also for white cells. It isn't the rest of the server's fault said player didn't read the rules. The mod is nice enough to drop a copy of them in your dagom hold when you create a new character. Don't punish me because he was to lazy to read the damn rules. I created an account on this forum and read the rules before I logged in. I don't like having to do ooRP things to obtain things. I already have to do that crap for my Zoner Guard ID. Not to mention when you do get approval to use a factions ship, you now have to either waste hours of your own time or wait for an admin to help you. Restricting red cells: A+++ Restricting white cells: Utter fail. In short: Why do I have to waste hours of my time because someone else can't bother themselves to read the rules? Admin Notice: Ship purchase restrictions - Cannon - 03-13-2010 White cell items are no longer restricted. Long live Discovery. Right now there is a problem with the way the system works. People are getting sanctioned for something that the gamemechanics could prevent. Cannon has developed a way of making the gamemechanics prevent people from being hurt by their own errors. This method needs to be finetuned. This method is in the PROCESS of being finetuned. If you have suggestions on how to improve the method, or reach the same goals that this system allows - the prevention of needing to sanktion players for something the game mechanics should have prevented in the first place - then you can be assured it will be listened to. If you can't provide tangible examples of how this system is hurting you, then I for one only can define it as the normal human behaviour of objecting to any kind of change. Same kind of objections we saw during the implementation of Cruise drain - a change that has lead to less sanctions, and a better RP environment. A & L Guy |
