Also, a silly whiny suggestion without proper justification (heh, like there could be any) requires a strict and obviuos answer: NO, CD's MUST STAY ON THOSE SHIP CLASSES. That would be all. What do you think about CD's and Bombers and Gunboats. - Seylah - 12-16-2011 Rather than removing Bomber/Gunboat CD's I think Transports should have a special type of countermeasure that leans in their favour. Or, alternatively, it would be nice to see transports with 2 or 3 countermeasure slots as opposed to just 1. You'd think that after ~500 years of piracy these wealthy corporations would begin to develop dramatic measures to deter piracy. I think something should be done, anyway; as it stands the rules are heavily biased towards pirates and transports in most cases simply don't have the damage or the survivability to fight back. Alot of your modern pirates are using Bombers and Gunboats whereas in the old days it was more common to see Light Fighters and VHF's doing the dirty work. It makes life difficult for a trader. I don't mind being pirated; I just wish there was more skill involved in the chase. It would be cool if Discovery had "militant" traders. As it stands currently traders are just lambs waiting for the slaughter. Transport turrets need to be buffed, transport combat in general needs an overhaul, and we need to think outside the box when it comes to countermeasures. It would also be cool if Transports had deployable mines; there's no reason why they shouldn't given the fact that they're large and clearly have the space for them. What I want more than anything is more freedom to customize transport ships. Alot of people tell you to hire an escort, but even if you trade with a small armada to protect you there's no way you'll survive if a single Bomber focuses you down hard enough. I don't like capitol ships and transport ships, because you can't customize them. When you fly a Transport, Gunboat or Bomber you always have a choice of "generic gun." With Fighters on the other hand you have more complexity when it comes to building your ship. You get to choose what type of weapons you want and from there you can develop your own tactics for combat. You can't do this with Transports, Bombers, or most capitol ships it seems. I liked Bombers better when you could mount Debilitators on them or CODENAMEs. Back then combat was more about diversity and less about torpedo/razor spamming. The idea that we should remove CD's from Bombers and Gunboats simply because Transports are helpless is ridiculous. Ships and equipment should rarely be nerfed, instead the underpowered equipment should be buffed. What do you think about CD's and Bombers and Gunboats. - themikeruler - 12-20-2011 I would put quotes in this post, but doing so would allow this post to take up an entire page. i have many thoughts on this subject. one guy said that piracy should be taken out because it "causes grief". 1) The real world has a crapload of this so-called 'grief'. Deal with it. 2) If theft is in the real world and is a HIGH possibility in the realm of FL, then it should exist. 3) Entire factions would be removed. 4) Players would quit Freelancer. I'm kinda hopin that the guy who said this was just joking/trolling. Another thing I'd like to point out is that the admins are nice to all you damn traders/miners, so much that they created an ENTIRE rule. "Cruisers, Battlecruisers, Battleships, etc. are not permitted to attack transports." If FL were a real life thing, this rule wouldn't exist. CDs are an essential tactic for using mines in combat. I'll admit, I hate it when my opponents use them because i can't do it for crap, but I respect them because they took the time to learn, and I'm not gonna bitch about it because my penis is too small. And yet another thing: Thread starter, don't make a comment towards a moderator/admin about something they said because of your remarks. They can whoop your ass faster than you can notice that they're whooping your ass. Also, not all people in bombers can't RP and just pirate. I've seen a few of them that literally say "3 mil or die" and don't even give 3 seconds for me to respond, and start attacking. Blame those people, not the entire bomber-piloting community. It seems that all the people that voted "yes" are people who are making it a problem for themselves that they got pirated on a couple occasions and think that they should be immune to it. No. How about you hire an escort, or be more savvy and learn the art of trading and evading? OR just keep trading and stop bitching. Thank you. |
