Quickdocking, boon or bane? - MÃmir - 03-21-2012 It is an excellent idea if it is balanced with the trading system so that freighters will have a purpose (besides from faster cruise speed). It's nice with a bit more variety in trading, seeing that a 5K transport can do the same stuff as all other ships used for trading (really the one/no guns isn't that much of a weakness in reality) while making you significantly richer at the same time. There is no real incentive to not use a 5K transport, save for RP and ID's, and it would be cool if the economy combined with a new docking system could be an incentive for traders with nothing but dollar signs in their minds to mix it up a little. Also it would eliminate the silent trader/quick docking power-combo that is utilized quite frequently. Or the random Ranseurs docking at Rochester Base. If the devs are willing to spend the time on stations/ships that needs fixing following this, I'd say go for it! Quickdocking, boon or bane? - Ursus - 03-21-2012 I think you're tugging on too many threads at once. You're smart enough to keep track of everything but we're all freaking out. Can't we implement this in baby steps? As to realism-vs-playability, people come to games to escape reality not to relive it. Fun is priority 1. Quickdocking, boon or bane? - kikatsu - 03-26-2012 Well this has been around for about a week and things are just about equal. I did notice that in the dev log however that new ideas on docking procedures have been implemented, specifically some jumpholes are being made so that only fighter sized ships can enter them (in order to cut off trade route abuse)... now this opens up some interesting ideas to smugglers in freighters... they have the potential of not only getting to their destination faster in some cases, but they also would have the advantage of small ship docking procedures should the quick dock changes be implemented. Quickdocking, boon or bane? - William Frederick Cody - 03-26-2012 I voted YES. The only bad thing on Cody would be, that it would take much more time to change between my ships. Quickdocking, boon or bane? - AshHill07 - 03-27-2012 Provided base weapons get a bit of a buff definatly. But then I've always thought pirates raiding "entrenched" possitions is a bit OORP. Stuff like pirateing infront of manhatten never made much sense to me ... Quickdocking, boon or bane? - AeternusDoleo - 03-27-2012 ' Wrote:Why is this broken anyway? It's those damned "jump" type hardpoints I want to get rid of which accept all traffic - they don't instruct the plugin to do the "unmoor in reverse" routine while undocking from them. The plugin governing undocking and usable moors incidentally has been running since the release. Quickdocking, boon or bane? - Gentlefood - 03-27-2012 Will Liners still be able to dock on Liners? If not that messes up a lot of people commodity routes for the big ship. Quickdocking, boon or bane? - dodike - 03-27-2012 I like the idea even though it's a balance changing concept. |
