so... nomads going to have a base? - Stefan - 04-11-2012

Balance is different than everyone having similar equipment.

Is pretty damn hard to join the nomads compared to other factions, to the point I've never ever ever seen a nomad BS to begin with.

Limited use equals freedom to be more powerfull. In the end, if you pit every Lolcap player on the server against every Nom cap, do you really believe nomads would pose any threat at all if their equipment is similar?

Really sorry to disagree, but this is turning into a "I hate nomads because they are restricted" discussion.

some said that the nomads should have cloaks for free because they made it on the original game! so if this is the excuse ... so the Order should have cloaks for free because they also had a cloaking ship. and ... didn't two rheinlanders pilots surrender to the bretonians? that means that rheinland should have cloaks, because those ships weren't all infested, and also the bretonians should also have cloaks.

so what to do with the nomads cloaks?!! maybe instead of a nomad remain bs they could use a fleet admiral, those in house bs, for a special nomad cloack device. instead food or fuel maybe alien organism like there are in their gunboats. and the rest they need ... a special das wilde transports group

Its supposed to be a game for them too. If they see playing as a chore, or they need the crutch of free/EZ items to make them play, then something is seriously wrong. And if it is a game, they can play it the same as the rest of us. Maybe it is too hard to play--I certainly think cloaking is too much work for too little reward, and they are entitled to reach the same conclusion, especially considering the higher burden. But they chose that burder as part of the roleplay, giving a pass on it is the wrong answer.

I am *willing* to let them have something native, as a fiction booster. It shouldn't be easier to use. Maybe easier to acquire, or native even, but the cost of use should be at least the same and maybe even MORE expensive to use since its free to acquire.

Also the Nomad / Wild stuff is pretty powerful already. They don't need EZ mode stuff to whoopass up and down the block. Giving them EZ cloaks will make it impossible to kill them.

That.

Don't forget Zoners are the ones who were the first out there where they discovered the Nomads...

Freeport 7 was attacked by them for gods sakes in Sigma-17...

Also that

The Nomads are a hostile alien faction.

Your stuff does not need to be more powerful just because you get ganked a lot.

We all know the nomads wont receive cloaks for free but there must be a change in the way they can build them. For example sirians are building bases. They are hunting nomads for their remains containing the secret knowledge of the cloaking technology, which the nomads already posess in lore.

It wont be fair for all other factions if the nomads have them "for free" but if there is a different way to build these new equipment from nomad point of view then it would be great.

For example instead of building and supplying bases (something the nomads cant do right now without the help of wilders) to use their primary home base in Iota. They could build their equipment with similar to /base commands by bringing alien commodities: organisms, cardmine (alots of), liquid cardmine, oxygen and water.

We all belive the devs gona find a way how to implement the new features of 4.86 on nomad side.

Hm this is also good idea. When humans need nomads for cloaks, nomads might need humans for cloaks.:)

Making nomcloaks sell for 500 mil should ease off some of them haters right? If not most of them.

If "we are neutral to everyone" factions / ids can exist, so can op'ed aliens which were / are the main protagonist of the vanilla.

This has turned into yet another "we hate the nomads *whisper* or keepers */whisper* because we are not one of them / we don't like what they represent or why cannot we represent something in similar level" thread.

Still the same disco, still the same failure.

They should be toothless.

It's been 20 years, however and they should be a little stronger.

But nowhere close to their original strength.

Did the LN blow up Toledo?
Did the KNF blow up Toledo?
Maybe it was the GRN came in and blew up Toledo?

Hell, even my BHG couldn't blow up Toledo.

Nomads. One ship. Boom - no Toledo.

Now how toothless exactly is that?

Fixed that for you.

Not trolling or insulting - just pretty obvious that you hit it on the head in your second paragraph.

No, it should be more powerful because they ARE a hostile alien faction. In the whole time they've been studying the Nomads, the Order and BHG|Core have managed to sort of figure out, what, two guns? That's it. No ships. No thrusters. No shields. Two measly little guns.

And it's BECAUSE they're aliens - until you can figure out a common point of reference, you have NO chance of matching their technology. So while they don't need to be more powerful because they get ganked - they SHOULD be more powerful because they're the FRICKING NOMADS!

(Toothless ... you may not like it, but the canon intro video for Disco shows the Nomad StarKiller taking out Sol. The Nomads are a combination of Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Lee, Buce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Tommy Lee Jones, Jean Claude VanDamme, and yes, even Chuck Norris - all in one little package. They SHOULD scare the crap out of you.)
