Voncloud nodded to Thomas as he walked off, heading over to him and Dr Mojo holding his paw out to him

"Thomas my freind, good to see you"
the fox exclaimed though in hushed tones so as not to disturb the current speaker, though his ears perked up at the mention of his topic and people agreeing, making him smile some to himself, seems he wasnt the only one concerned, giving a acknowledging wave to Sarah as she pledged her backing to his idea.

Parkes had gotten sick of the formalities. There was little point listening to them.

He went and sat next to Quiron Lacroix.

"So Mr Lacroix, do you think we will get anywhere with this conglomerate of Zoner power?" Parkes asked quietly, half-serious, half not caring.

Robert bit his lips expressing a faint disgust while applausing the madame on the podium for the sake of formalities.

" Tres magnifique, I never recall myself to hide under children's beds and bite their legs of " He thought

As much as he understands Sirians' concerns regarding the Royal Navy and their wars, he thinks that this concern stretches too much and includes Gaul civilians and non-militants alike. After all, they are also the same as any other Sirian. For him, it was funny how Sirians don't pay as much concern for their internal wars and disasters in comparison with Gallia, or that is what he thinks.

He simply couldn't understand why this dramatized worry about Gallia and wars throughout Sirius. Even though the Commonwealth were against wars and the use of violence, that didn't mean they didn't saw the war of others' as a profitable business for them.

" If all would think like we do " he muttered

" But then that would mean a lot more business rivals " He suddenly thought

Afterall, a warmongering policy and supplying others war efforts is profitable.

Even though he thinks that way, Robert rarely made any deals of this kind as sometimes, the consequences can be dire if the opposing side finds out about this and you can never trust someone enough with your secrets. Still, he still wants to get relations with Gallia, or at least find a way to get access to their resources. That would be a profitable chance for the Commonwealth.

That being said, Robert bothered enough thinking about business, he stretched himself, got up from the chair, and looked around to spot a familiar face to spend some company with, or await for a familiar face to call him.

Dr. Mojo returned to the stage after Sarah finished her speech. He wanted to back up her words so he decided to let his own words wait and spoke.

Gentlemen, we are all aware of what independence means to the Zoner way. And because of that, I understand why some of you are reluctant or at least doubtful of merging your stations or groups into the Confederation. But let me tell you, if you are not taking into account the advantages of counting on your brothers and sisters, it must probably be because you are right now not facing any threat bigger than what you can handle by yourselves.

He took a deep breath as he watched the reaction of the people in the Amphitheatre.

I am an old man, and as the proverb says here in baffin, Eris is wiser because of her age than from being a Goddess. I beg you dig up on your own history, and see what troubles did the previous administrations have to face.

He looked at the only man in the room who seemed older than him, though Mojo knew he was actually some dozen decades younger.

Let's take for example the case of Freeport Eleven. Sure, you might not have anything to do with the wars in the Omegas, and the Gallic threat in the Taus, but let me ask you. Who will you count on when crap hits the fan in Delta? The friggin system is a powder keg! Order and Core terrorizing each other, unpredictable Nomad activity, and you in the middle of all that. If you joined the CoF, you would be certain that when the time comes to ask for help, help will be delivered hastly. It's not as if it isn't this way alrady, but it's more efficient if we are bound together.

Another advantage is that we can be united when foreign parties want to adress us. Also, any response we give will have the weight of the whole Zoner community. Anyways, I just wanted to support Sarah here, you should pay attention to what she said, it's no nonesense.

He abandoned the stage and walked up to where Thomas was waving at him. He shook his hand and sat next to him.

I'm glad you came my friend. You need to step forward and tell them about your idea you know? Else this is getting nowhere.

“Well to be honest Mr. Parkes, I am not sure. I only hear the usual big words.” he whispered. “When we were really in need of help, everybody disappeared or showed ignorance.” he took a sip from his glass of wine. “Look around, Mr. Parkes. Most of them probably don’t have a clue what is it like to live in the Omicrons for a single day. Having those luxury goods are surely not our style.” he stated cynically.

Parkes barely batted an eyelid when Freeport 11 was raised as a topic on the podium. He felt the eyes swivel, but he didn't pay it any attention. He remembered the abandonment of The Omicroners, he remembered how Marvin Ophelia was treated like an outcast. He remembered the grand alliance of old and how it crumbled.

"Indeed, luxury foods, grand halls and all these frivolities. I expect this from capitalist corporations, not people who left to avoid them." A grave nod was given to Lacroix.

"I remember what happened Mr Lacroix. As a former Omicroner I'm sure you do too. I know how the alliance fell through when it was needed most." Another sip of Gallic wine was had.

"Should I stand up and bother to address it? How to trust this confederacy? That will give them a stir. I suppose I'd have to leave after such controversy." Parkes questioned Lacroix.

Matok found himself in the company of Ms. Kane. It had been some time since he had heard from his people that took residence at Freeport 1.

"Have you spoken recently to the Klingon commander at Freeport 1," he asked leaning over to her, "he has authority over the contingent there and that of the I.K.S. Khaless and Malpara. Of course, he knows that he answers to you."

He listened to the speakers. Yes there was much to be discussed.
Looking straight ahead, he said to Sarah, "You have my respects, Ms. Kane. I often wonder how it is that warriors such as ourselves end up being Freeport administrators."

“How could I forget the bombardment of Freeport 9, the Corsair huntings against our undefended whales and how certain parties left us alone… No, I will never forget that.” his face showed helpless rage.

After a little pause, he forced himself to a little calm. “It is up to you, Mr. Parkes. I’m sure I don’t have to remind you how these organizations are ended in the past. We have an ear in that confederation, but that is all from our side.” he finished his wine. “Also as we are still alive that proves we can defend and help ourselves. We had to learn it.” he switched to a cynical tone again. “Naturally it includes Freeport 11, just tell us if your station needs anything.”

At the back of the Amphitheatre a robed figure slipped in.... barely noticed, and gazing around, John Rackham caught Doc's eye....

A couple of seconds later they were together... "How's it goin' Doc? Sorry fer bing a bit behind...Been cutting some Robes for a new Acolyte... I'll brief you on that later...How's Van Mojo doing managing this lot? Looks like no one's resorted to slingin' the buns around yet.. always a good sign....." and seeing Mojo in the background, he lifted a TAZ thumbs up.

Parkes sighed a little,
"An ear? Best to keep an ear out all around."
He was not personally involved in the Freeport 9 event, but it was an edge Freeport with decent, hardworking people and it was always strike a chord in his aged heart.

"We certainly might need supplies soon. Out there it's hard to find reliable people who do constant shipping. Nomads are quite a worry too." Parkes said, knowing full well that Lacroix knew the problems of constant supplies.

"As it stands, with the sudden disappearance of Marvin Ophelia, the frontier port is a bit out of sync with things. It'll be tidied up soon. I've found a good second in charge to help out. I mean, it's not like I'm going to live forever." He had a slight chuckle at himself.

Parkes finished his wine, wondering when the representative for Freeport 9 would speak.
