Except for Jack, everyone got me wrong. And no reason to start trolling (@omicega&haste).

I didn't even participated in the event. I just went there for a few minutes to check if it's worth it. And by posting here, I merely wanted to point out, that to my understanding, events should be satisfying to everyone. Of course there cannot be a perfect balance, but people could try to be fair at least. No need to jump on single targets with a whole fleet, just because you can. By that, you're purposely making people mad (of course that's what most people aim to do, so they can harvest the tears in the forums later). Good pews don't need to be balanced, but having participants with an understanding of fairness, sharing the fun, and not just caring for their own good. That's a mindset I really miss. Unfortunately, today it's a trend to troll people.

I apologise if my brand of humour failed to enchant you. Maybe it's a continental thing (::

In all seriousness, though, I don't think you have any grounds to provide feedback on an event that you weren't even involved in.

Perhaps if you had actually participated in the fight - and made use of the re-engagement rules specifically laid out so that this kind of madness would actually work - you might have had a different opinion. I ended up getting nukerammed out of things quite early on, but I went back in with guns blazing and kept on having fun.

The same could also be said for our anonymous friend Itziar who - together with the XTF present - decided to ragequit out of the brawl early on with some semi-ooRP anger because of caps being present. Perhaps there would have been a stronger Maltese presence at the brawl if the sight of Solaris turrets didn't trigger some people's angry buttons quite so much.

tl;dr don't knock it until you try it.

Narcotic is right in his statement that logging Nomad/Wilde was pointless after our initial alien attack with 6 ships died. Such an event has to start with a huge nommie incursion and then all humans butchering each other.

Agree, but what is sad is that fact: I know some nomads who told they will come and they didn't came. Same with your convoy event. Around 10 K'Hara F1ed in o74 and how many came when event started? Two or three! So I were lucky for some Wilde which came.
Anyways it was nice.

The problem is that with large numbers of people of various factions, very few of which are actually coordinating with each other, it's pretty much impossible to avoid stuff like a whole fleet jumping on a single target.

If this were an event between an organized group of participants, it would be a different matter. But the way this happened, and indeed the way it was planned, was not as a coordinated event. Everybody brought what they could, and organization was at a minimum. Sure it would be nice to have participants coordinated in a way, but that just isn't manageable in a brawl like this.
And I don't think this is a problem of individuals that don't want a fair fight, but simply an inherent limitation of what can be done with group fights of this type. It could have gone very differently if there had been one or two more K'Hara/Wilde/Nomad-aligned ships showing up around the time you did, but as there was no real planning, it didn't turn out that way.

A more structured event will likely be more balanced, but it simply won't have that number of participants on such short notice. And the purpose of this event was to sacrifice fairness and structure for spontaneous, large-scale pewing fun.

Never said I dislike your humor. Unfortunately, my mod duties tell me to consider graphics which aim on trolling named people, as malicious.

Anyways, as said, I went there cloaked and just observed the situation for a few minutes. And my only 3 allies I saw, got heavily ganked within a minute. So I was certain, that I'd share the same fate, once uncloaking.

And since I can only dock in O55 and Iota, I didn't considered rejoining the fight for a second minute of being ganked. Therefore, didn't saw it worth participating. No harm done.

And I've tried a lot of nomad events, while most of them ended unsatisfying for the nomad side. (It just lies in their nature I guess.) Myself, I really don't care about lost fights and ganks. I enter a fight when I see it worth it/chances to win being equal. And I don't care what happens during the fight, as I made my decision to join it. Until this day, I developed a good understanding of recognizing a fight I'll have fun with, and one I don't. This method saved me lots of hours being mad. And I'm sure I made the right decision on this one, too.

There's always a next time, so it's okay.

Oh, I didn't realise I'd offended anyone. I thought the cruisers and gunboats were the crux of our unnameable acquaintance's displeasure, not a five-minute MS Paint job. I'm very sorry if anyone was made frowny by my clumsy attempts at being funny.

I assume you're aware that the re-engagement part of the event rules specifically stipulated re-engaging as a different faction from the one you died on, thus making any flights from O-55/Iota irrelevant, since you shouldn't have been coming back as Wilde in any case.

Indeed, had you inspected the melee of ships carefully enough, you may have noticed that there were many other factions involved, any one of which you could have been a part of.

Here's hoping you get it right 'next time'.

RE: COMPLETED & OVER - TTT - Total Theta Terror: 2 hours of Theta fighting - Jack_Henderson - 06-29-2014

I'll be honest... and say: I expected faction leaders to come up with some plans and to coordinate their people. But... something like that is normally done in the last 30 mins before an event. And Brasil and Chile were playing still, so it really became a "Go in as you are" event. Nothing wrong with it.

However, if this format is done again, it is the responsibility of the party leaders to tell their people: "We log faction X first, then Y, etc..." and get more organisation. It's not the event manager's responsibility.

I'll think about what can be changed for the next one, but expect more. Smile

Didn't attend the event, but reading people's responses in this thread and checking the posted pictures made me chuckle.

RE: COMPLETED & OVER - TTT - Total Theta Terror: 2 hours of Theta fighting - sindroms - 06-29-2014

The event needs to be simpler next time then.
Two sides. No respawns. Plenty of caps, so that the three holier-than-thau whiners don't bother to log their precious snubs ))
And that's it.
