Do you report everything you see? - Doc Holliday - 11-17-2008 ' Wrote:In the NAVY , swearing and curse warfare (Klingon Curse Warfare?:) ) are a way of life....Yes, Hack, it is a way of life as it was for me in the Army. (//oorp) Klingon curses? Yes, the commanders of the Vor'tcha and the Gon'Shar both will do it although for those who can translate it, even for them it's dishonorable to drop F bombs and such but they will insult. Do you report everything you see? - MrCynical - 11-17-2008 If it's a minor rule, or if it's a well-known RP'er and it didn't affect anyone, I won't bother. If I think it's worth reporting, I'll always PM the person first (unless it's a blatant/malicious violation) and will then only report if they don't respond/call me an idiot/etc. Do you report everything you see? - Zapp - 11-18-2008 ' Wrote:Yes. Right. I'm not saying that I don't like them personally... Some guy got killed in NY yesterday and cursed the person that killed him off, went on an OOC rant (he had never had RP in the first place), and then told him to come to Conn "if he was a real man". Right. I did not like that guy. I sanctioned. Not saying I go out of the way to sanction people I have a grudge on. Hell, I don't have any grudges or really dislike anyone personally in the community... Do you report everything you see? - Mordrom - 11-18-2008 To be honest, I find that a friendly word often yields a better result. I know the Administrators are busier than a one legged man in an arse kicking contest most days, so I'd prefer to handle infractions in a one on one conversation. Now if the violation is severe, and the person appears to simply not care, then I would contemplate reporting them, if only to send the message that "It's not okay" and to take personal responsibility for themselves. This is the only server I play on, it is home to me, so I do feel a sense of duty regarding fair play and proper conduct here. I have no illusions or dellusions regarding my place here; Only that if people choose to toss the server rules into the wastebasket, they really take away from the fun for the rest of those who choose to subscribe and adhere to them. Reporting violations is not my first instinct... calling them on it is. Mordrom Do you report everything you see? - me_b_kevin - 11-18-2008 the few times i posted sanction reports were only when someone took it too far. i'm fairly good at just ignoring most things like the Zoner flying a Rheinland Battleship in sigma 13 the other day. :nono: BUT those few times i posted reports, reports that followed the guidelines & included screen shots, i never saw a sanction on said players. i'm not sure what happened and i'm confident it's not the admins fault. more than likely it was my fault. so, i just don't post them anymore. Do you report everything you see? - Stoat - 11-18-2008 I've not yet posted a sanction report. I get little enough time to play the game without wasting it posting sanction reports. Truth is though that no-one's yet done anything sanctionable to me. If that changes, I'll probably be making my first post. Do you report everything you see? - Marburg - 11-18-2008 My story is exactly the same as Stoat's I see violations alot, but it also takes alot to get me to post a sanction on someone, & I have yet to see something that p.o.'s me enough to write one up. The things I see that are close can usually be hammered out in game, & imho, a sanction report should be used as an absolute last resort after every other option is exausted...kinda like how war is supposed to be. Do you report everything you see? - bluntpencil2001 - 11-18-2008 I have one pet hate, really, that I sometimes move my ass to report. When people go OOC in system chat to tell my I'm breaking rules, when I amn't. I ESPECIALLY hate it when Zoners claim I can't rob them OOC. Grrr! Do you report everything you see? - Tenacity - 11-18-2008 most people I let off with a suggestion or warning. If they've got a civ ID a few levels over 40, I just remind them to get a new one. If they've got a Civ ID and are flying a battleship, that's something I'll report - because it's obvious they arent paying any attention to the rules. OORP ship setups I almost always report if I think it's severe enough. If I see an interspace tagged, Freelancer ID'd eagle using corsair, outcast, and GMG guns (yes, I have seen that exact setup before) - it gets reported. Anyone breaking the rules who has a particularly bad attitude, or doesnt even attempt to RP in-game when I talk to them, generally gets reported as well - because more often than not they arent interested in RP, and are a detriment to the server. Do you report everything you see? - Elvin - 11-18-2008 Only when its serious... By that I mean people ignoring rules, even though they are warned about it many times, still ignoring (Like one specific guy in BC I remember, he was having civ ID...I told him about it... When I met him in 3 hours...still civilian ID, I told him again, the next day again, and when Ive met him for the 4 time... I think that deserves report, because its simply that he dont want to change it...)... Or guys of the " lul i don like rp and u will not tell me what to do" .... |
