Read my post again and point out where I justified being racist and hateful towards people on the internet. This time, though, try to bear in mind that saying 'this will happen whether you like it or not' is not me in any way saying that it's right that it does happen.

You can then follow it up by pointing out where exactly you got the idea that racism etc is why any of the six people banned were banned.

RE: "Discuss this like adults" - Ninja - 06-30-2016

Thread full of 15-20 year olds telling 30+ year olds to grow up, be a man, and act mature.

Venkman, by telling someone to not use the internet if he "cant handle racism" you've re-affirmed your own immaturity, hypocrisy, ignorance, and straight out stupidity. You've shown that you're exactly the kind of person it is absolutely impossible to get along with. Good job on trying to get your friends unbanned, that'll help.

Mind you, I'm not against unbanning anyone. But you're not helping.

The fact that it will inevitably happen is completely irrelevant to just shrugging and going "oh well, internet."

And you can read my post where it says "If they got banned because of this." If.

Hello there everybody!!

I just want to post my opinion...

After all this situation, I can say all we know how we must behave. This is a comunity and of course we will meet people we dont like, and things that we dont agree with (like other member said perfectly)...

Now... I a person without rancor and I believe in second chances (damit... maybe third or fourth chances! hehe) and I think we all learned good what happens when we are toxic to the comunity.

Those veterans already banned, I bet they also learned good the lesson and maybe they may come back as simple members...

REMEMBER the comunity is not big like old years... losing those members would be worst intead better.

In resume: I have no idea if I know them personally, but I appeal for them a second chance as normal members just for keep the comunity alive. Just my opinion, enjoy space!!

You don't have to condone racism - jokingly done or not - and any other manner of hate speech to be able to acknowledge the simple fact that the internet is a wide and varied place, many corners of which are full of people you are not compatible with. Whether it's because they make racist or offensive jokes or are flat out assholes who will scream their throats raw telling you how awful you are is by the by - if you don't have a thick enough skin to handle the nasty people that you'll undoubtedly run into when you go online, then you should either not bother or tread very carefully.

I don't think you're either stupid enough or idealistic enough to suggest that anyone can reasonably expect to remain free of verbal abuse online, unless you've never played a multiplayer game in your life.

Blah blah blah. You can justify it all you want, doesn't mean I or anyone else here has to put up with it. Casual racism grows out of you when you turn about 15, but I guess someone people are just born assholes. It isn't up to anyone else who is a decent human being to tread carefully about racist shitheads, it's the racist shitheads that do. If they can be removed permanently, all the better.

Those people I typically just place on ignore or block or whatever filtering option is available to me. In a multiplayer game with thousands and thousands of players that's not a problem, even if you didn't the chance of running into them is very tiny. In a small isolated mod for an ageing game with a dwindling population, that kind of behavior is just asinine because you will invariably HAVE to deal with the people at some point considering that people can be in multiple factions in multiple regions of the game. It's just idiotic behavior.

Quite frankly, if that was one the reasons why they got the swift kick, good riddance.

As someone who's been around since the dawn of multiplayer gaming, I gotta say that you sir are exceptionally mistaken.
Some communities have a decent player base, others not so much. This somewhat depends on how old that particular community is, but nevertheless, as said, you shall be prepared for invalid and some times disgusting behavior.
I'm not sure if you realize it, but there are a lot worse places to play in. Disco is a dignity paradise compared to a lot other gaming communities, in which games, the moment you connect to the server, there will always be somebody swearing at your mother, and if you are a server staff member, you'd be better off insulting them back instead of booting or muting them, because virtually the entire player base consists of incoherent douches, and banning one would imply banning the entire community.

You still have a point though, I'm not saying you don't, but you should still take that advise seriously - if you'd always expect to be treated fairly and in a dignified manner on the internet, then you should consider switching to some more relaxing environments, like tetris.

RE: "Discuss this like adults" - Shryke - 06-30-2016

I've been around since the beginning of multiplayer gaming as well. And no, not even by a longshot is it like it is these days with the ubiquitous nature of the internet. People certainly did not act like 13 year old COD kiddies who you see now in almost all multiplayer games. Were there asshats? Of course, there's always asshats in the world. The fact that you've been in communities that are worse does nothing to change the argument. Sorry, it doesn't. Just because the behavior exists it doesn't mean that it should be allowed.

I also have far thicker skin than most people and just because I don't tolerate racist idiots doesn't mean I have thin skin. I'd wager that those who are screaming at the top of their lungs because some of their friends got banned have the thin skin, but whatever, it's no sweat off my brow either way. Ban em, unban em, either way life goes on [Image: emoticon-0157-sun.gif].

@"Omicega" it's great to read in your words that you do not support racism ... I usually can't find a single constructive point in your posts so that's good progress.

@Darku I never joined a clan with the tag "SD" before, and the last time i created "DIE" clan was on the Void Server 10+ years ago - so what are you talking about? Smile

when you start hallucinating then i ask you what are you saying, then you reply "Whatever" , this means that you are abnormal somehow
when you edit your post and start calling me names, then this means that you also immature and so weak ... weak to the point that you have nothing to say but calling others names and be insultive
This kind of people i can't deal with , because i am not weak Smile
