Some of the staff team seems interested in seeking community engagement and feedback. One of, if not THE, biggest criticism I've heard not only within my circles, but in other circles, is that player feedback and concerns are not a priority. True, there has been more replies by staff lately. But once I corner their points and prove why current action is not in concert with what is best for the players, they latch on to other conversations and then I'm ignored. I'm not the only one to have noticed this. If staff is serious about player feedback and engagement, initiate more polls or even reach out to players via PM. Ask open questions. It's very simple. Bringing this back around to this patch update... believe it or not, I'm siding with the devs on this one. Lets wait and see what this patch brings. Changes can be made at the last minute so... we'll see. I just doubt Sept 1st is going to be the actual launch point for the update. But again, we will see! I understand that snub components were done away with for a number of reasons—to my knowledge, the primary one being that the dev team lacked the time/capability back in the day to add the same functionality to Disco-original ships; the secondary one being balance concerns; and possibly something to do with server load?—but I'd imagine the first two arguments (at least!) likely no longer apply, at least in regards to capital ships. Some quick & dirty renders, lighting is a little bit random and so is the choice of background. These remind me of good old Starlancer mechanics to disable the caps by hitting the subsystems. Great job guys. Can't wait to tag along once this is released. RE: Discovery Freelancer: Fire and Fortune Release Date Announcement - LuckyOne - 08-26-2023 Watched the video again, and I'm gonna have to say I'm going to miss the current LABC. The LABC was quite good even with the current meta. It also seems that the thruster drain on BCs is increased in a vein similar to the current LFs and Cruisers, which is something that I personally loathe. Current BCs were pretty good for those times when you didn't want the immobility of a battleship and the highly stressful thruster management of the Cruisers. If the Gunboats will get a similar treatment I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy any caps in the mod anymore. But I'll hold off from further commenting until the next version is made public. |
