You would like to place bomber patrol around alaska jg. Ech, anyhow perhaps wont help since npc drops then server gets filled.

Woh woh woh guys.
Your forgetting something:
Underlevels need to use this system to setup Order characters!
Make it even more impossible than it already is, and you dont get any more Order characters.

There is an interesting way. I know jumpgates can be made as accessable only to certain IFFs. Maybe make the gate to Alaska let through only LN and LSF?

Yes I know its the wrong thread for my words. *apologizes*

What is known officially about Zone-21: That it exists and that it is a heavily restricted area. Nobody officially knows there is a jumpgate inside the minefield (don't come to me with "but I can spot the gate with my bare eye!").
What is known in Discovery about Alaska? I have not the foggiest, because digging up stuff that has changed the storyline in Discovery is a laborous task indeed. So the only things I can say without messing with the game mechanics too much;
  1. Add a cloud to the minefield so the gate cannot be spotted anymore.
  2. Remove the existing tunnel in the minefield.
  3. Create a set of "labyrinth" entrance and ankled tunnels just like the mine-field race in Connectictut, except that the buoys don't show up as objects at all on the scanner. Just being there.
  4. Developers / admins give the location of this entrance only to leading players of the LSF, the Navy Guard and the regular LN. These people do then instruct the other members worth mentioning.
  5. A new Guard / LSF / LN should perhaps not receive the coordinates of the new entrance very early. I can figure it takes a while and a certain trust and reputation to be allowed to move there.
  6. Having fighter/Bomber Patrols of the Navy Guard running circles around the cloud and inside the minefield to free fire on any unwanted visitors.
  7. Additional Cruise disrupting weapon platforms of different kinds and types to take on small and large vessels.
' Wrote:Why come up with all these complicated solutions? Just lock the Z21-Alaska Gate down to anyone without the proper ID mounted. You can easily do that with FLHook. Proper IDs would be the Nomad ones, LSF, LSF Guard and Navy Guard (not sure about the normal Navy ID - any input on that would be welcome).
My memory is clouded, but I do believe you can restrict a jumpgate by standing to the faction the gate belongs to.

Of course, now everybody fires and says "but how would we set up an Order/whatnot character".
Question 1: how many order Characters are being created? If there are not much, perhaps a formal request per PM in the forums and a manual change of reps by an admin if possible?
Question 2: What about introducing other ways to get Order rep up beside Alaska-abusing?
Question 3: FLhook could do the trick, as many said, but I have the vague feeling that the more needs to be done with FLHook, the higher the latency could become because of all the different server to client to server verifications going on?

*drops his Cents*

' Wrote:Also, Alaska is no secret anymore. HOWEVER, the tests and researches made within the system are still in secrecy as well as Fairbanks, Kodiak and Atum. I changed the RP a bit to fit with Igiss RP about Core BHG (yes... in-rp they pass through Alaska), hence why there is a corridor within the system now. Stick to it with a navy/LSF escort, or die.
Since when was Alaska known to the public? I thought only Zone 21 was publicly known. Also, since the BHG|Core pass through, if we implement one of the solutions here, shouldn't we include those with the Bounty Hunters Guild Core ID in the solution?

Not even the Rheinland MND knows about Alaska.

They know about Z-21 and that there is a gate, but where it leads, is a mystery.

No MND soldier made it to a position, where to enter this Area, since it is not only restricted by rank, but to special picked members of the Military.

Infiltrating the LN LPI and whatever is easy, going up the ranks as well.
But getting on the list of names, who are allowed in there, is the hardest part.

Liberty is not dumb, so they pick closely who is allowed in there.

i think there is a solution not yet mentioned, although it could hurt starting order players.

What if the jumphole to minor (in alaska) was moved to the most distant place possible (seen from the alaska gate). For instance if the alaska gate is somewhere to the right lower corner, place the jumphole to minor in the left upper corner. And do the same in minor.

Same can than be done for the Ellesmere, Illinois route. In doing so, programs like freelancer companion won't show that route anymore. The only disadvantage that comes from this is that the appropriate factions have to travel much further than now.

Unless the gate is 300K away from the other hole, I still think that would take less time than going all the way around.

Guys, you arent going to be able to properly restrict the system via game mechanics, there's too many factors that are effected.

However, if those idiot LN indies that sit outside of manhattan and norfolk all day long talking about the superbowl and their favorite porn models would get off their backsides and go actually defend alaska, this would no longer be an issue.

If smugglers can get past the crap defences and through Alaska, then there is nothing to stop them.

Defence, not locking the JH is the key.
