Truth be told... i love getting away from a pirate,and love to come back along the same route again,just to RP catch me if you can? Problem is with the Pirate's that just kill you on site when you come back, just for revenge instead of RP'n it. I had a 1 hour fight/run/fight/run battle with a pirate just other day. We both did mostly RP,and it was fun as hell for us both. Ofcourse this was a 1 on 1(my transport vs his VHF) Both ship's were not maxed out,and pretty equal. Not once did he call in help thinking i have to work for this pay/kill,and not once did i think of calling in the law.

Stronger NPCs, better IDs, and for heaven sake, stop being fair if you play lawful. Someone here pointed it out correctly - if you would rob a bank, police wouldnt come with two SWAT teams and then say. Okay Bob you go alone, we have to be fair he is lone pirate.

Guns are a big part of Roleplay. If I have a gun, and you have your body, who has an advantage? I have an advantage. Do what I say, or I will blow you away. That is how it is with pirating. If I have the capability to kill you, and you do not want to cooperate, I will kill you. Easy as. That is all part of RP.
Sorry... the point is exactely that there are not escorts cause there is not a profitable market for them, hence to balance things we should figure out a way to make escorts more profitable. Sorry for the repetition but apparently my point was not clear enough... or your reading was not very... very...

Is this roleplay? I would name it in a different way... before blaming traders for lack in RP, go around and check how much RP is really done by pirates...
RP isn't just words put into a sentence and put on a screen. RP is about actions. Words backup actions and fill in the blanks we can't fill with the spaceships. The greater political motives, filler sentences, messages of intricate intent, that's what words are for. However, if your words don't get you what you want, then your guns are there to sooth your pain. If this were only about text, we'd all be playing text RPGs in space.
Actually, there are more rules on pirating than any other aspect of the game. Lawfuls are even exempt from rules (Traders and 4 hour rule anyone?). Pirates really are bound by more rules, but, because they "Get away" with so much, it seems like they don't. A lawful catching a smuggler is not him "Getting away" with anything, but, a pirate deviously seducing a trader into a corner and escaping police is him "Getting away" with it, and so it seems like there are less rules. Thing is, there is just more room to be creative on a pirate. That or it's much easier to be creative...
Yup. Gets a good punch in the mouth. I love it when people sass me on my pirate when I know I can kill them. Puts them in their place.
Again... Apparently my english is not clear enough... above I "bolded" the relevant part of my example... my point was that in the majority of the cases not only pirates does not pay any attention to RP... they do not even pay attention to fair play... a thing even worse.

Next to no-one is interested in escorts - why yesterday, there was three of us escorts mooching around New York, frequently advertising ourselves while the system was absolutely full of high level traders. There was a fair few pirates too. That entire day I got two jobs. One was a short haul to Colorado and back, the other a long trip to New Tokyo. Total profit? 5.5 million.

The traders don't want to part with their money - especially the ore miners and haulers it would seem. This is not always the case though. I made a habit of listening to people talking, then seeking out the more capable sounding players through PMs. I got quite a few more jobs that way.
As a matter of a fact, I made the majority of my money with two customers doing a back and forth trip from New Tokyo. That day I made 26 million. Swings and roundabouts, I guess. No-where near as good as tradeing, but it'll keep you in repairs and ammo.

it is sad to see, besides the lawful shortage, that everybody only plays for more money.
Very few will fly an escorting VHF, Bomber or GB and use cash only for ammo and repairs, maybe ship upgrades. That times are gone. Now everybody is mining, getting cash and buying big ugly ships. Oh well.

Is that being a good punk? Yes indeed, it is entirely in-character, and while playing a spaceship game, it's called Roleplay. Just cause you don't like someone's RP (because it's not how you think it 'should be') doesn't mean it's ooRP.
Re: "OOC: afk, need to answer the phone" or "//gotta go let the dog in" or "//hey stop! need to go jack off" comments.
If your trade ship stops and doesn't do anything, I'll sit patiently for a moment or four. If your trader keeps thrusting/cruising/swearing at me then apparently he's not all that interested in his phone call/dog/personal time.

No you got me a little wrong. I meant on return trip( say... 30 min later) said pirate/unlawful just open's fire on site,Not a word, just Pew Pew. That is out of RP,and against rule's,as this would be a new encounter,and word's must be spoken in RP.
I am OK with him coming after me and killing me... IF! in RP, and he speak's first, or RP's it.
The rule's do state that you need to make a statement before killing someone, even if he/she is a sworn enemy. That is why alot of Lawful's being sanctioned. Cause "Die Scum!" has been stated is not enough RP, and just PVP whoring.
