Design Competition - Aphil - 12-09-2010 Quad? I count six guns there. Indeed, I'd be interested in seeing a forward gun for it, but I don't think I've ever seen a high refire forward gun, which is what this looks to be. Anyway, let the devs handle it I suppose. Design Competition - Etaphreven - 12-09-2010 Voted for Dart's. <3 It fits really well with the current ship line, too bad I read you're going to change it. About the forward guns... a new SCRA-only mortar type weapon would be nice. Lower damage and energy cost than Light Mortar, higher refire rate maybe and a beam like effect. It should obviously only fire straight forward. Design Competition - Zapp - 12-09-2010 I voted the second one because it looks original. The first looks like a mix between a Rheinland cruiser and a Kusari destroyer to me... Design Competition - arvg - 12-11-2010 Zapp, you are the resident expert on the Siege cruiser... is it difficult? Would a high refire rate, low damage option be viable? What kind of skills would the pilot need as a result? Design Competition - michiyl - 12-11-2010 arvg, there is a value you missed! The new SCRA cruiser (forward-firing only) guns can have a high projectile speed! I developed a kind of RL laser beam for my LAN-discovery server (just me and my brother) and I have to say, it was quite a fun to fly the Storm gunboat and shoot my new gun (which was not written to be a superweapon, but a single - due to an extreme fast refire rate - high energy beam with a 2k range, and damage rates like 1 to 2,5) ... and it's always hard to aim with that especially if the weapon is not exactly in the center of your screen (or cockpit view; I used the CD slot to mount this beam weapon) so you cannot expect to hit a fighter or anything NOT capital or static with your first shots! This would also be more SCRA intro-cruiser-like ... faster projectile, higher refire rate but lower damage per "bullet". And because there seem to be more than just one of them, it can be quite devastating using them against capital ships! I hope you understand my idea :D Design Competition - arvg - 12-11-2010 Just to be clear, I am not a Dev, I don't speak for the Dev team, nor can I affect the outcome of Dev choices. All I can do is petition them as a faction leader. Design Competition - Elvin - 12-11-2010 Both are really great work, yet I say Dart. Because it is more Freelancerish and certainly would make sense that "Coalition" would use the original Coalition tech. Design Competition - BaconSoda - 12-13-2010 I feel like Luis' model is a lot more modern, and that the designs of the Coalition would advance their ship design instead of stagnating themselves 8 centuries in the past. +1 to post count, +1 to Luis. Design Competition - jxie93 - 12-13-2010 The first model just doesn't sit right with me, perhaps it's too slim? That's why I prefer the second one. Design Competition - Windtenguu - 12-16-2010 The Luis model has great potential, but the pointy candy canes on the front irritate me. Dart's doesn't make my eye start twitching.... so vote goes to Dart (though I wouldn't mind seeing the forward cannons go, and maybe slant the bow to compensate a bit..... RP possibility(technology/power-core for forward cannons did not make it to Sirius:rtfm:). Then again I'm just a noob who likes to look at pretty ships and speculate. |
