Or am I an evil goodboy?:shok: Who are the good guys? - Luka - 03-11-2012 ' Wrote:Well I think there's no point in trying to condense what should be a massively complex morality system into a color-grading or AD&D style Chaotic-lawful etc. scale. How do you classify Synth Food, for instance? They sell synth paste for profit, ruthlessly driving traditional farmers out of business on the one hand, but supplying hungry people all over Sirius with food on the other? Mostly Lawful-Neutral, since if they were Lawful-Good they'd help the farmers get something to do too, and if they were Lawful-Evil then most of their intentions would be harming the farmers more than profit, other than alignment, also in a gray are ' Wrote:Scaling is counter-productive, it would be better to try and grasp the complexity of it all instead, to the extent it is possible. Not for my main, it would screw up his RP really bad, it's RP it's ALL based on that scale. ' Wrote:I for instance had an encounter with a Bounty Hunter while I was on an OC character - he wanted to kill me because I was an "evil outcast", but I pointed out to him (in-rp) that I hold human life in high regard (even though my character has a cardamine farm and keeps lots of slaves an export the "Orange Dream" to all of Sirius), while he in fact makes a living from killing - who's the "evil" one there? The BHG's being Lawful-neutral, he's following in fact the main trait "following orders no matter anything else", though he's confusing Evil with unlawful:lol: I see the OCs to be more in a Blue and Orange morality, they are a bit messed up, they grab slaves and think they're doing good, instead of helping them hold by themselves, they use them for their economy, I think that gives them another gray area. Can't say much of that exact OC, could even be Lawful-Evil or Lawful-Good following OC rules, needs more character development. Who are the good guys? - Slartibartfast - 03-11-2012 Blood Dragons are red and therefore evil as well. But they're also allied with Order, which are The Saviours Of Humanity, so they're also good. Evil good faction, np Who are the good guys? - Luka - 03-11-2012 I think RHA's a bit Chaotic Neutral, but yours depend on wtf are you doing it for;) wait red is not evil it's used by mario too! guys don't take color-coding too srssly mayne!! I said that cuz TVTROPES said so! Who are the good guys? - Mímir - 03-11-2012 ' Wrote:Mostly Lawful-Neutral, since if they were Lawful-Good they'd help the farmers get something to do too, and if they were Lawful-Evil then most of their intentions would be harming the farmers more than profit, other than alignment, also in a gray are I think the point is that if you ask the farmers, no way would they agree that Synth Food is "neutral" - they would be perceived as pure evil. It's all in the eyes of the beholder. I just wish for more complex RP based on character interaction, rather than ID's and IFF's. Also it all begs the question of "laws" - are the Corsairs "lawful" seeing that they adhere to Corsair Laws? And what about Vanilla freelancer? Had the Rheinland Chancellor Florian Gustav Niemann (who was under Nomad control) passed laws to benefit the Nomads, would people adhering to these laws be considered "Lawful" even though they might be working against the interests of humanity itself? To put it short: The AD&D style differentiation infringes on "true" RP. Who are the good guys? - Omicron - 03-11-2012 There is no good & evil in both real life and freelancer. Your actions regardless of intentions may have unforseen consequences which may be quite opposite to what you wanted.
