Learn to dodge and deal with it. Not just remove it.
What sort of rp are you looking for? Do you really want a fleet of pirates to camp planets that are full of activity?
That shouldn't be a thing in rp to do unless you are dodging and taking cover.

It is not impossible to dodge the guns and missiles.

leave it as it is A. In rp a pirate should expect to be shot at even if we have less people playing now.

Other than stopping mid-fight(I doubt the winning side will stop if the loser asks for mercy). This would only mean shieldrunning or base docking. Which is known by many in the community - really frowned upon actions.

Blues are needed to end PvP properly.

I don't see any other way it could end. If you do see one, i'd love to know it.

I agree with nomnom.
Leave the docking ring weaponry. That isn't hard to dodge.
Unless you have a fat ship just in front of the ring.
And that isn't going to happen anywhere.

That is the view of a "certain" part of the people around here, unfortunately some of these people downgrade this to "everything needs to end with a blue" ... The rest share a different view ( including me ) , so as long as I play here, you won't be able to convince me of the opposite. Been here long enough for that ...

Another thing @Char Aznable wrote is, there is no need to kill everything off the game for the sake of balance ... If you guys really want to balance things, you should start with things you made ... ( PoBs , Cloaks , JDs , Scanners, some ships ) so there would be quite a lot to fix in the existing content, but every second development related post is about "let's change something that was like this for years, and untill now, noone had any problem with it", cause ... reasons ...

Pardon my manners, but this is getting a bit of a comedy lately.

Aye, I was around back then. I recall an incident where there was a Spyglass and MANY pirates of various factions around Manhattan, and I was the only LN Ship around, and a mere gunboat. I refused to undock because I lasted all of 4 seconds after undocking, and the "RP" was merely "lol u scared liberty? u don't wanna face my l33t bomber?"

Was as much fun as toe surgery.

exactly my point confirmed.

Does it make sence in Sci FI for pirates to come up to a house planet and be met with no resistance of station weaponry?
Not to me.

Yes, it is frowned upon by- some- and it is perfect example of how different mindset RPers and PvPers have. It makes completely sense that when a pilot is losing a fight (and sometimes I know I will lose a fight after like first two minutes), he will flee and dock. So when I´m losing and I´m near of some station, it makes sense to dock rather then let enemy destroy my ship and threaten my life. And by rules there is no difference if I dock or I´m blued, because I´m PvP dead anyway in both cases. And the other side can mark this as victory when they forced me to dock.

Yet, so many people complain that they didn´t get their blue... I personally had to switch and start to fight majority of fights until the bitter end, just to give opponents their blue and don´t have to deal with qqing in PMs about my "poor attitude" and such. Thus I had to change my RP attitude just to make PvPers happy because they count only blue messages and nothing else.

Conclusion? Sometimes it is not a game what needs to be fixed, sometimes players and their mindset is the problem.

RE: Docking ring weaponry - Moberg - 02-29-2016

PvP interactions do not need to end with one party dying. In my opinion, this is an extremely narrow view. Players shouldn't be forced to die, it's stupid both in roleplay and from a gameplay perspective. There are other ways of attaining victory and merely surviving can be one of it.

Over the past years, there have been plenty of things where some players resorted to crying for nerfs instead of trying to counter the things they found standing between them and their blue. Time and time again, this rendered alternative playstyles and pvp methods that deviated from the 'Unwritten Conn PvP ruleset' almost useless. Trying to nerf capital planet defenses is just the next episode of it.

If you want a fight that plays by your rules, go to Connecticut. If you are in regular space, be prepared to meet playstyles that don't satisfy your 'standards'. Be prepared to face them with a different strategy than usual, even if it inconveniences you. Defenses around capital planets are not the problem, it's the feeling of entitlement to kill something when you attack it. And when you die, it's easy to shift the blame on something out of your control instead of admitting that you should've approached the situation differently. Or that you were too greedy to let go of the kill.

In any case, in the majority of the cases I've observed over the years, the balance has not often been a problem. It was the players and their mindset, and it still is.

+1 to Char and Laura, too

RE: Docking ring weaponry - Traxit - 02-29-2016

It's called sportsmanship. If you can't handle being blued then don't bother PvPing.

And the whole thing of "oooh but my life will be of dyings if i get ship blown up!!!!" has gone null. As I've seen lately, RP chars that got their ship blown up in combat usually get their escape pods "tractored" by their allies or just run away in the pod itself(Probably thrusters on the pod itself).
We won't kill our characters that easily with one single blue. So do your environment a favour and just get blued. It won't harm anyone and it's much better than denying a blue for someone that could possibly get Sodium Chlorided (Damn you filter).
