RE: Aliens killing transports without a demand is bad for gameplay - Tenacity - 01-22-2020 C'mon lyth, you should realize as well as anyone that some areas of space need to be dangerous, and transports shouldnt be hiding behind the rules all the time. RE: Aliens killing transports without a demand is bad for gameplay - Nika - 01-22-2020 I see that yellows were quick to take action in regards to this... idiotic suggestion. What are alliens supposed to do to transports, tickle them with their tendrils? Address and fix real issues, not the made up ones that lead to such a swift adjustement of the rules. Be competent for a change, do not follow the path of the least resistance and balance out the fucking Delta ore fields so the profits would match the risks. RE: Aliens killing transports without a demand is bad for gameplay - Foxglove - 01-22-2020 I usually just tried to ignore transports as a squid anyway. They are neither fun to kill nor engaging to fight against and people aren't interested in RP while flying them either. RE: Aliens killing transports without a demand is bad for gameplay - Lucas - 01-22-2020 ID overwrites Server Rules anyway ? RE: Aliens killing transports without a demand is bad for gameplay - Foxglove - 01-22-2020 Obviously, but this was a comment regarding the actual topic of this thread. RE: Aliens killing transports without a demand is bad for gameplay - Charo - 01-22-2020 Aliens are bad for roleplay* Fixed it for you :^) RE: Aliens killing transports without a demand is bad for gameplay - Uknown - 01-22-2020 Well, come to think about it, why nomads wants money (?) is supposed Nomads live in sirius and far corners of the galaxies ... They are red to everyone, even the AI's xD So is okay, you will die one time, change your route and then try again, or hire someone to escort you ... that is simple and easy to do ... Even in SP they just hit everything with "human or robot toasters" ... don't be rude, accept it, specially when Omicrons are the reason of the movements in aliens ... don't cry, is part of a fun game. RE: Aliens killing transports without a demand is bad for gameplay - Grumblesaur - 03-08-2020 Lyth is right about this, and I'd even go so far as to say that Nomad players, outside of big events, are detrimental to roleplay. The roleplay precedent the Nomad players have set in-game is a flavor of telepathy that usually consists of a handful of words, with occasional brackets and ellipses, as well as sentences describing the target character's state of mind or thoughts. This is tantamount to powergaming. In forum-only RP circles elsewhere on the internet, expressing thoughts or dialogue from a character that is not one's own to control is often referred to as "god moding". It violates player agency and does not directly express the action or intent of the character actually being controlled -- in our case, the Nomad. Thus, Nomads are entirely incompatible with a game wherein roleplay is primarily driven by exchanges in a written/spoken language. Nomads have no human-comprehensible linguistic capacity, and so to suggest that the telepathy that they do is roleplay is shaky ground to stand on. I think it makes sense for Wild players to remain (if we must keep the aliens present in some capacity, though I would prefer none at all), since they give a human voice to the Nomad goals and act in a way that is understandable by other players and their characters.
