Corsairs have 10% on Hogosha GB. Tested it right after this went live

RE: Technology Compatibility Update - Lythrilux - 10-31-2023

Junkers should have 100% on Gallic Civilian

RE: Technology Compatibility Update - Sally - 10-31-2023

I actually found it very stupid when I was told that Corsairs can't use Edge Worlds ships and guns because "they're too prideful to use foreign tech" but then they got Gaian, Farmer and Hogosha tech at 100%.

Can I get a citation from vanilla of where exactly does it say Corsairs are so prideful they will aggressively reject using anything that isn't their ships to do the job, by the way?

RE: Technology Compatibility Update - Omicron - 10-31-2023

Ah this again. Edge World tech was made by defecting Outcasts: The old Reapers of Sirius. They shot the Hispanics. Dont think Outcasts would want to use their enemies weapon, nor would Corsair touch anything made by Maltese hand.

originally it became Order/Core/Zoner shipline with Coalition added in down the line because more or less this is how former members/defectors distributed themselves after faction got Insurgency'd/Phantom'd. Now I can see more people like GMG and intel factions can use it, but I still believe Corsairs wouldn't ever touch this thing whatsoever.

Pretty sure everything from the Reapers was retconned excluding Ithaca which is the only thing that still mentions them. Also if they were truly Outcasts then even more reasons to be retconned considering lore regarding them claims they die if they stay away from Malta for too long.

I think Edge World guns and tech should just be what they are now, generic tech for EW factions, which includes Corsairs (read the new freighter infocard that was introduced in 5.0, you got more clues regarding this in that one).

Crayter Republic has been long time allied with IMG, why they are defected to use their tech?
And can you keep the Renzu and Civilian Liners like Oasis and Enterprise at 100%?
I mean, Crayter has some Liner Corp marked as Intersun Luxury Liners, and losing that tech is.just being so badly for it...
My guess would be that IMG-CR relations are still somewhat lukewarm, and have only just started warming back up recently, but that was before the timeskip. Helps that IMG can't just amass fleets of inRP restricted Deimos anymore to keep a sense of realism, but that now means that IMG indies have a useless battleship allowance, since the only ships they could use are now de-celled. Can't even use BCs either, since the Sagarmatha was reduced to a cruiser.

Also, liners really should be generic civilian tech anyway, and be regulated by ID allowances instead of techcompat. Aside from their origins, they can have almost no connection to any faction and still make sense.

If you think its wrong, send dev/player request. Its just my personal rationale as to why it is the way it is now. If staff disagrees with me, they are in the power to let corsairs use this tech.

IMG indies can file techexempt requests with supporting roleplay to be able to use any battleship they would like. If it's a particularly absurd one (say, an Osiris) I'd probably go with an SRP just to be safe, but I don't see why IMG indies couldn't do roleplay around something like a Jormungandr and just file for techexempt.

Yep, already did. Aingar claimed they don't get to use these toys because they're too proud to use Outcast tech, which isn't entirely true specially since RoS have been zeroed. It's also why I asked for citation on the whole pride thing from Corsairs.

I think Corsairs should have 100% tech compat on EW guns and ships and 75% on Gaian, Hogosha and Farmer tech and with DTR around that's one post away from hitting 100% if some indie wants them- Nevermind, just readed the original post of this thread.

I may file a PR and see if something comes out.

Edit: Also give Bowex Sabres. Because why not?

That's fair, and you're right.
Will take a good while to adjust to actually working with techcompat instead of organizing things around it.

Still curious if there's story reasoning for it, or if my assumption above was pretty much the gist of it. I have my thoughts, but it's always best to hear it in yellow.

Still think some of the changes are a bit questionable, but honestly miles better than I think I would've expected any rework of techcells to go. Nice.
