Do they treat it like any other criminal extortion and shoot the perp? Or do they just let it happen because it's Interspace and they're not engaging in piracy? Alright here's my two cents about the whole situation: Inside their turf (House Space) they should get pissed that someone's breaking laws and collecting fees while trying to avoid giving their share to the government, so the navy/cops should either demand the IC lackey to cease and desist or shoot them if they still try to find out. Meanwhile cops are too scared and don't get paid enough to care about what's going on in the borders, and the navy also doesn't get paid to protect civilians from corporate vultures, unless there's a pinned sticker note somewhere saying that they should be killed on sight along with the Rogues and whatnot, something that realistically wouldn't happen, because IC knows how to manage heat and what to do to avoid that ever being a thing, they would also know that squishing trade too hard will harm their profits because it'll mean less traffic through that region, or Houses will start considering that it might be worth it to fund their own insurance and security shenanigans to try and keep IC monopoly at bay. Cases where IC pilots are caught doing illegal stuff inside House Space would be dismissed by IC as Hackers trying to taint their reputation spoofing IFFs or any other kind of criminal shenanigans that bought that privilege off Hackers, plenty of room for plausible deniability, and everyone's too busy on the grindset to deal with infinite layers of bureaucracy and bring these incidents to court. Interspace can engage in piracy in any system with a trade lane, including house space. Correct. As for what happens...... I could also see the police/navy potentially 'collecting the governments share' and looking the other way, depending on the factions involved and the roleplay at the time RE: Announcement: Interspace Commerce ID - Jeuge - 07-21-2025 why not use something else like -Can demand credits from non-Gallic Corporate ships? :] RE: Announcement: Interspace Commerce ID - Sally - 07-21-2025 (07-21-2025, 02:51 PM)Harcourt Fenton Mudd Wrote: I could also see the police/navy potentially 'collecting the governments share' and looking the other way, depending on the factions involved and the roleplay at the time Yes, and the law allows them to do that as they can collect fines in-scene to individuals breaking them. IC Ship was "pirating" a Freelancer and I'm sitting there on my Navy ship wondering wtf I'm supposed to do. I'm not sure I like this change, but I don't have an IC ship so no dog in that fight. It seems problematic and unnecessary though and I don't believe they should be able to demand credits in House space which is supposed to be relatively safe. I don't think that IC Player realizes that the ID line only allows for piracy against corporate ships, meaning that Freelancers would not be valid targets. Piracy It is illegal to attempt unlawfully disrupt any traffic and/or threaten to extort cargo, credits, equipment, personnel, etc. You have every right as LN ID to tell the IC ship to cease and desist |
