Unless the supplies are coming from Kusari (or the Taus, since that's close to Kusari and we wouldn't be able to tell for sure), and if they were headed to a Bretonian base (like, uhm, a Zoner supplying Leeds with military vehicles? I don't think the situation would come up much, since Bretonia's trade is pretty much crap) he wouldn't be pirated. Probably. Unless we didn't believe that he was going to a Bretonian base, as people do have the tendency to lie.

With official status faction gets more influence which means more responsibility.
As an unofficial faction you would be considered to be what your IFF and ID says you are and it would make it much harder to establish official diplomatic ties with you.
(Privateer ID is more generic, it says they are Bretonian faction and we would treat issues related to privateers through our diplomatic ties with official Bretonian factions)

I usually escort them if they claim they are helping.
Had some Military vehicle and Gate/lane parts haulers yesterday. Both were escorted to Bretonian bases. If I find someone with "useful" cargo, I will try to redirect him to Bretonian base, or demand dropping the cargo, eventually with some money. Usually makes people change their mind. :P Better to get -some- profit than losing it all right?

and how would we be any different then our ID says? we are pirates, who were at one point backed by the queen. however, it became unfeasable for the crown to continue supporting us.
that is all. and how is it harder to "establish diplomatic ties"?

Considering the Bretonian Privateer ID was tailored to the QCP, we shouldn't be too different from what the ID represents:)Nowhere on the ID does it say anything about their relation to Bretonian government. The ID is more generic than the QCP, but it isn't different in principles.

If your not official no more attention will be given to you then any other random independent who decides it's fun to shoot down Zoners. And whatever you say has no value to us.
As for your diplomacy - that one you will have to work out for yourself.

There are a few unofficial factions which normally do diplomatic stuff, for example Kiretsu.
Are you going to ignore them all too? They are unofficial like we are.
