This would solve some of the issues, particularly the BHG-Order war is so hot because BHG always know that when they come to minor they find some easy cap targets to shoot. 2. The ids/rules allowing BHG to shoot order on sight should be removed, so that they can only take bounties on them (kind of ending the "war" yes), 3. Order shouldn't be closely tied to Corsairs yes 4. Order exists to fight nomads - fighting nomads is the only reason of Order existence, yet I'd say that's the thing order does least of. So yes add "hidden" Osiris in Omegas (to watch wild), in Kusari (to watch kusari wild) maybe in Newcastle for research? On fighting nomads: Right now some Nomad ships and all guns are significantly better than Order/rest of sirius because: a) nomads are "supposed" to be better b) everyone ganks nomads (Order/BHG/Zoner cap swarms mostly) The result is that it makes no sense to fight nomads unless you have a much larger group (cause and effect?). So Order never goes to Nomad systems cause they would need 30 ships (both because of players and NPCs). Provided Order faction membership gets somehow restricted, I'd move the Nomad stuff (specially some), closer to normal Sirius level. The Order - Future Direction - JIVA - 12-18-2009 i thought that one of the ideas ( although not really seriously thought out - but at least mentioned ) was to move ALL ( not only nomad ) stuff closer to each other - or in other words... balance things. everyone knows that when you have better equipment ( that means an unfair advantage ) - others will seek and eventually find ways to counter that unfair advantage. having balanced gear would do everyone good, no matter if you re ganked or not. - cause - at the end of the day, everyone, no matter if its nomad, liberty navy, the generic pirate, zoners or gallic royals are ganked. - mostly cause "being ganked" is for a very large part - subjective perception. ( and for a minor part actually happens - but even then - ganking is justified, to counter the aforementioned "unfair advantage" ) anyway - realism - especially realism of a secret faction or a faction acting in secrecy WILL cause boredom. reasons for that have been pointed out already. - it takes a very specific kind of RPer to roleplay that. its like kids playing in a sandbox. - for 90% of the time, they will play "war" - and they get utterly bored when they are playing "peace". @Tenacity: about the last post you made.... no - when all the mod is balanced ( or at least mostly balanced ) - but only one faction stands out. - the way to go is not to bring another faction to that level - but to bring the faction that stands out closer to the rest. - the calculation that a faction that is "supposed" to be better gets better gear - DOES NOT WORK. or should a terrorist that is "supposed to be a descendent of a god" deserve an insta kill, siriuswide gun? - as pointed out, it just leads to justified ganking. Sure it does. Nomads are to be feared - by everyone. Regardless, the only true advantage nomad weapons have at the moment (at least for fighters) is the 700m/s speed. Efficiency aside they're comparable to most other sirius faction weapons, slightly better than most but with good reason. Nomad capital ship weapons are (in all cases except for the cruiser guns) significantly more powerful than their sirius counterparts, but on the flip side nomads cannot use pulse turrets, mortars, razors, cerberus guns, solaris turrets, or any other 'specialized' capship weapons - all they have is their normal nomad turrets. No issue there IMO (again, other than the fact that the nomad cruiser guns need serious buffing). The nomad assassin is one of the largest VHF's in sirius, quite easy to hit which is why most of us prefer using the light fighter to survive the ganksquads. Our bomber is in no way different than any sirius light bomber, same relative hull strength, same gun power, same number of hardpoints - the only difference is that we have no bomber EMP cannons, making our weaponry excepting the snac pretty useless. Regardless, you're getting off topic - this thread is about the order, not about sirius wide balancing. As I said above, the only change needed to order balance at the moment is faster guns, so that we can hit the significantly faster enemies we're facing. The Order - Future Direction - The.Wizard - 12-18-2009 I don't think that making Minor even boring than it already is is a good solution for keeping lolwuts away because Minor is already most boring system in game...have many friends in game who are much better RPers than me who have left Order just because is so boring...i am what you called "good indie"and 100%Order all true SP,4.84 and here...i even didn't have another char on server for the first 300hours because of my"order heart"but then i started trading because Minor is BORING!...in spite the war with BHG,apocalypse and many other things...I was thinking for some time now to suggest to Kelt and primary fleet guys to organize something like Order Intelligence Service or something like that to bring Order closer to its origins, but to transfer entire Order in to just that is...well...just wrong.Why would we do that when we got option of creating invite-only intelligence service or something like that?Reducing entire Order to to a gang of selected players ho are only snicking true Sirius and play game only in-chat is wrong...this is action game and Order ware fighting force even in original SP freelancer so,see what i mean?I like idea to change it for the better but there it must be better solution then this. As far as CAP ship issue,don't really care...i agree that must be some restrictions...i have credits to by Osiris but i don't wanna...don't like it-don't need it and many other players think like me...majority of "indies"are really good players,only in many cases official Order RP is not good enough...not interesting its better choice of words...unless you think that escorting nomad weps from Okinawa to Minor is something very interesting and funny...repete-this is not chat-only game...
