Eppy's Current Projects - Eppy - 06-05-2008 It shouldn't lose more armor, because it's underarmored as-is...the original armor it was given was based on its forward cross-section, which is a very flawed system, imho, but since the actual forward cross section hasn't changed it shouldn't need one. The current 410000 is actually very appropriate for it, since it's about the size of the Liberty Dreadnought. About the engines-I tried to fit them on there, but there just isn't any place for them to go, so I had to put on what you see there. That's the awkward bit about shortening a ship like the one I made last version-it has to lose a lot of bells and whistles. Eppy's Current Projects - Jinx - 06-05-2008 leaves to say - it would be nice if the old one lived on ( in pictures ) - it shows where this one comes from, sort of. - the new one does look better - and it makes me quite excited how the final dreadnaught will look like. - ( the one you presented should be revised, too then... cause this battleship looks a lot more "modern" than your dreadnaught concept ) got any idea where to stick the hardpoints on allready? - sleek designs like those can easily suffer from the pockmarked look of turrets over their hulls. Eppy's Current Projects - n00bl3t - 06-05-2008 ' Wrote:rebuild the spyglass II!! Rebuild the Spyglass into the SpyGlass II. So what happens to those people who have SpyGlass' and OC BS' as their accounts now? Once 4.85 rolls out do they have a "different" ship on their character? Eppy's Current Projects - Robert.Fitzgerald - 06-05-2008 I believe the model just changes. So they keep the ship, but it looks different/has different stats. Eppy's Current Projects - Eppy - 06-05-2008 Pretty much. We're just replacing the model, the coding stays the same, so there's no change. And yeah, I know where I'm putting the hardpoints. I'm actually not going to update the Dreadnought beyond some cosmetic changes to give it a little more color, actually...it's supposed to be older than the Battleship by a good fifty or so years. The reason for making the Battleship was that the Dreadnought was large, unwieldy and expensive to produce and maintain. A lighter, cheaper alternative was necessary. Eppy's Current Projects - AdamantineFist - 06-06-2008 The engines on the battleship (not the dread) look like they're too far forward. I'd say to either extend the lower part of he ship so that the engines are further back, or that rear segment that juts out over the engines needs to be slanted rather than flat on the bottom. Eppy's Current Projects - Panzer - 06-06-2008 Eppy, keep both battleships in the mod, please. I understand, that the older one has its flaws, but make it stay. Why? because it looks fine, outcastish and all. And what to do with the new one? Here's my idea and it applies to all the new vessels being designed in in the shipyards atm. Jinx, Xing and you are currently working on replacement models, me sez: replace the imports, but keep whatever Disco includes. For example: The current outcast assault BB would be the first class of its line. early and with the same stats as originally. Over time, its price would go down (As in reality kinda) The one made most recently as a replacement would simply come in as a new class. Improved stats and a bit higher price. That way -people would get a choice: cheaper but older or a top of the line wallet eater. That would resemble reality way better. Besides... The more the merrier ^^ Eppy's Current Projects - Eppy - 06-07-2008 ...no? Sorry, Templar, but that thing is a piece of crap, and this mod has too many Capital Ships already. This is an update of the model, not a replacement. The Admins can make a spare base and put it on there if they really feel like keeping it, but that's like leaving the pizza box on the couch after you've gone to bed and eaten the pizza. Messy. I'd rather get it out of the way. Igiss can still use the model however he wants it, but this is the Battleship as I intended it. The old one came out as far less than I tried for, and I was certainly less than satisfied. On that note, a model update. It's basically finished, I just need to go and add some of the inner details and run it over once or twice for welding errors. It's about 2100 polys right now, so not too bad. As you can see I added the rest of the superstructure and redid the engines (they were a bit big for my taste, to be honest). People suggested more of a modular apearrence and more segments, but that was pretty well impossible without scrapping the model, and I think this has been the longest project I've ever done, so nooooo way am I remaking it again. I think it's modular enough as-is, to be honest...it could be run off of an assembly line, unlike the larger, more complicated Dreadnought. I've put some ridges on the outer hull bits, which I'm hoping to get textured the same color as the Maltese crosses (bright red-orange), to give it some flavor and depth. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Eppy's Current Projects - AdamantineFist - 06-07-2008 Huh... bridge looks like a sub bridge... Very good design, though. Eppy's Current Projects - Eppy - 06-07-2008 Yeah, I've been trying to give them a submarine look and follow the tenets of Borderworld/Outcast design while alluding to elaborate naval Battleships and U-Boats. |
