I'm sure the entire staff would absolutely love to and it's certainly been considered. Unfortunately, I think Discovery's standards of sportsmanship at the moment just aren't there yet, so we can't let go of the brakes just yet. The ganking rule really didn't do anything to fix the issue, as far as I'm concerned it just made things worse. By deleting such a rule you show faith (yeah I know there's not much left but there still is some glimmer of faith ) in the community and some form of positivity, the good old "sort it among yourselves" works better in majority of the gameplay/pvp scenarios. And if certain people/groups/factions/whatever go overboard with fuckery, a private warning always did the trick.

There currently isn't. The reason they're public is because we don't have game accounts that are strongly tied to a user login, i.e. a forum account.

If you were forced to register a forum account to access to the server and all of your characters were tied to it through the launcher, staff would contact people directly rather than posting notices publicly.

This just happens to currently be the only practical way to let people know precisely what happened.

While I'm not speaking for the team with the above, I can confirm that they're aware of the recent posts here and are discussing it.

1. A VR is opened by a player against another player. This VR post is visible to the poster and the admin team. This creates visibility between the reporter and admin team pertaining to the VR in question. The admin team can ask questions to clarify the VR and work with the individual to obtain a satisfactory result. This also has the added benefit of the admin team sifting through VR's which may have a personal vendetta attached to them and can in turn warn individuals who post frivolous VR's not to do so again.
   
2. The VR is processed behind closed doors, the offending party told in private what happened and the results. If the party wishes evidence or a faction leader, they can do so in private DM's to the admin team.

Balance wise, sure. I neglected the Nomad ships. But that was more because they were a nightmare to balance and neither me or Haste knew what to do with them. The cameras I did just fine. I spent an unnecessary amount of time on the Nomad Battlecruiser in particular.

I'm kind of on an indefinite hiatus from the game because my heart's not in anything anymore, Discovery or otherwise. The only reason I still have the yellow name is in case Haste still needs help with anything and I can help. I'm not sufficiently self centered to pretend like being in the Discovery staff discord server is some monumental task that is taking its toll on my mental health like some people (such as yourself) acted like. I'm not taking up a slot, I'm not preventing anyone from joining the team. My presence there does nothing but keep me available for things I may be able to help with in the future, and maybe at some point I will regain the drive I used to have. If me being on the team is super insulting to any staff member in particular they are more than free to kick me out and I will make no fuss and if asked to return to help on things I'd do it without jerking myself off.
