Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - chaosavy - 06-10-2013 Hey guys I've been coding away at a "game of my dreams" for 4 years now and reached the Kickstarter and Greenlight stage. I got the idea to combine a space sim with real time strategy - with the aim of giving the player a unique gaming experience - so you can be in a dogfight one moment, pilot a cruiser or issue orders to the rest of your fleet. I always thought that in other space sims the player was too low on the totem pole - I wanted to be both the pilot and the commander, and here we are. My other aim was to have the game live as long as possible so I've built the game from the ground up to support modding. Here's the first trailer: Here's a vid of modding support: There is a playable alpha demo on the main site here: http://www.VoidDestroyer.com Here are some screen shots: ![]() ![]() Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1718477862/void-destroyer Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=146068036 I hope that you guys check the project out, post any questions/feedback, and tell anyone who might be interested about the project. thanks! Paul RE: Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - Kornpatch - 06-10-2013 Somehow this sounds familiar to me, anybody play Allegiance, its a Microsoft game. RE: Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - Trail - 06-10-2013 this is something I think I would really enjoy. As RTS games are my favorites and I am fond of games like Freelancer, Starlancer, Homeworld, Sins etc. I dont have any money to spare at the moment (kinda broke) but I did vote yes for your steam greenlight (hope it helps!) RE: Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - chaosavy - 06-10-2013 Trail - that definatly helps - thank you - also helpful is letting people who might be interested know. And there's an alpha demo so check it out, and if you find a bug or new cool feature - letting me know would be awesome too. thanks Paul RE: Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - SMI-Great.Fox - 06-10-2013 I have to admit.. From a starting point, you have done a few things that are very rare in games. Great example. The ability to sitch to the view of one of the turrets and control it is quite remarkable. I must say I am quite impressed by this alone. Bravo. RE: Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - Blackvertigo1 - 06-10-2013 That's programming not modding idiot. EDIT: Modding means it's open source and as you said being the pilot/commander... Get a snub and a cap that's the same allegiance. RE: Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - AeternusDoleo - 06-11-2013 Mhm. And guessing someone's password makes you a hacker. Try to remain civil Vertigo, especially when you're plain wrong. RE: Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - chaosavy - 06-11-2013 SMI-Great.Fox: thanks! the idea behind "Turret Mode" is that while in a big ship - it might be a bit boring waiting for it to turn or maneuver or what not, if you switch to a turret you can still fire off some rounds while the crew does its thing. I always loved individual turret control - I think the first time I encoutered it was Wing Commander 2. There's also a mode where you can control all of the turrets at once

Did you change the FL EXE? No, so what more is there to say? RE: Void Destroyer - like Freelancer + Homeworld - pitockm - 06-11-2013 Very nice. |
