So, bases - Omicron - 06-27-2013

As some of you may already know, I hate them. Coin (no offense Nik), formerly Itabashi etc. all of those monsters with endlessly respawning weapon platforms.

They are: too hard to mantain for smaller groups of players, sometimes outright invulnerable to everything or both at the same time. They bring some good additions (jumpdrives, docking bays, cloaks) and some role-play value.

They bring out also the worst in community, players as human beings. The First Yalalala was nothing comparing to festival of OORP, rule breaking, krieg and turning 74 into new Dublin/NY/Tau-23. Somehow it could be said I caused all of this and it would not be far from truth, however I have kept everything from my side and point of view within reasonable role-play of my character and faction I lead.

So... what will happen with bases? Questions to both players and devs alike.

Turn POBs into SRPs it's what I really like, but it looks against latest disco policy. At least, add a rule something like "remove a POB if owner went full retard".

Anyway, current situation with pobs isn't good, indeed. Well supplied core 4 is invincible. IMO, a huge amount of capital ships should make any pob into the pieces. Something like 16 caps.

That moment when it took only a squadron of bombers to take out a station in vanilla FL......

PS: I am not saying we should abide to vanilla, as obviously, disco is in no way capable of abiding to vanilla gameplay anymore. But let's admit it, the current invulnerability of some PoBs is a bit too much

RE: So, bases - Thyrzul - 06-27-2013

Make PoBs easier to build and maintain as well as easier to blow up. That way attackers won't qq, that it takes weeks to siege a base and it still stands, and defenders won't qq that they lost weeks of hard work in a day.

RE: So, bases - Duvelske - 06-27-2013

The problem are not the bases itself.. But the lack of PoB rules. I remember Jack henderson starting a topic with PoB rule suggestions. Might be a place to start with?

How about you lot stop ranting and wait like 24 hours before making another base thread?

Get over your bullshit please, just because you can't kill something doesn't mean it's broken. Bases are fine as they are. Do you have a trouble with a base? Then you should have killed it while it was still at low core, not anyone's problem if someone doesn't have the insight in strategy (I mean, we do assume we're a roleplaying server, no?). Learn to deal with the consequences.

#removekebab

Meanwhile, where is the other so called "Q.Q base thread"?

RE: So, bases - Narcotic - 06-27-2013

I must admit, that I find the PoBs in O74 quite okay, since they are built in a guard system where 'actually' shouldn't pass often.

Other than Golder Coin, yes.

And about balance - they were meant to be almost invulnerable, and for me it makes sense that it takes as much effort to kill it as it took the suppliers to build and maintain it.

RE: So, bases - Remilia Scarlet - 06-27-2013

Bases are ruining gameplay and I'd remove them or reduce to very tiny amount of SRPed once. Current base idiocy is meh.

RE: So, bases - Haste - 06-27-2013

What we need is a way to destroy bases that involves about as much time and risk as building one in the first place.
