Group chat commands and ops - Lythrilux - 07-09-2013 Ever tried to bark orders in a chat filled with people who can't stfu when you need them to? Then you'll understand what I'm suggesting here. Pretty much, how about that when a group is created in game, the person who created that group chat should get various commands I.e they can do that command in Skype where you can make everyone unable to type so that you only you can talk. This would prevent your orders being drowned out with spam. On top of that, we should add basic kick commands and op commands: mute, voice etc. Thoughts? RE: Group chat commands and ops - belarusich - 07-09-2013 Why you think that those who created group should command? "Mute" function ofc. be not bad, but I'd also partially return /setmsg(only in group) E.g. "Target is:*enemy*" "Move to *Square*" "Need help" "Cover me" etc. RE: Group chat commands and ops - Durandal - 07-09-2013 I see what you're getting at but no. Nice idea in theory, but you have nooooooooo idea how much drama it would create. It's different when dealing with the internal politics of a faction because on some level you get to actually know those people, and it is your job as a leading member of the faction to keep them in line. In an open ingame environment, you don't know anybody and they don't know you. You'll end up with a bajillion "WHO'S NAME.HERE'S SKYPE? HE KICKED/MUTED/BANNED ME RAAAAGAHSADHBDSHU" So you handle that stuff on a basis of simply leaving the group and working with who you know. And, if you can't get your own crew to sit down and shut up when needed? Well then you're doing something wrong. +1 for returning setmsg in group though, for sure. RE: Group chat commands and ops - belarusich - 07-09-2013 Or you can do that function but if all group members agree RE: Group chat commands and ops - Jack_Henderson - 07-09-2013 Not necessary. If people respect you as a leader figure, they will listen. If they do not respect you, no .kick or .ban or .mute option can make them do what you want. I am playing for fun. I am not playing to be the boss and to command. If things do not work my way, I either explain why I have a problem (and people understand or do not understand), or I leave the situation. If you repeatedly have these problems, you likely should question the setup of your group and the player constellations. RE: Group chat commands and ops - Narcotic - 07-09-2013 No. It's all fine as it is. |
