Given that I have no idea about swords, I would pick a Katana because it looks prettier and I could win sword fights by pretending to be a Samurai and scaring my opponents away.

Katana wins hands down...

It's easy to wield... lighter than the longsword and has more slashing/chopping power. And you can move around with it faster than if you would wield a Longsword...

Katana is awasome. Deadly and beautiful. I have one right near me right now..
Not real one ofc. Made from metal, but quite soft one so it cant be used in combat. Real katana is freaking expencive.

Excuse me, I do not wish to bother the entire thread but despite the whole 'MURRICA EF YEAR" attitude (it's forgiven after all it's Gunny and he's a legend). I have to say the video is thoroughly flawed, for starters the "longsword" is with a dull edge. Actually to hell with it I'll bother the thread.
