Discovery NavMap - Igiss - 05-17-2006 Here's a question - some mod makers publish system maps for their mods on TLR and in other places, including mod documentation. Should we do the same, or rather leave the new systems and paths unrevealed? And if it should be done - how? Help would be most welcome, cause the only idea I have now is to open the map from FL Explorer or the game itself and add system names... maybe we should try something different. Discovery NavMap - marauder - 05-17-2006 Is this because the first thing new players seem to ask is 'where are the new systems and how do I get there?' Personally the whole point of going onto a new mod (or any mod for that matter) is to find the new stuff for yourself. The ONLY time I'd ask for help finding new systems is if I've been looking for months. So I'm going for NO. Discovery NavMap - The Damned - 05-17-2006 Hmm nope. Better reveal the systems themselves... Discovery NavMap - Nightfall - 05-17-2006 I vote no, better to explore. I admit I use DS but because I really don't like exploring the whole Sirius for x-times just to have it all mapped out on every char. A kind of shared map between chars would be nice, but people say it's impossible, so... I make a compromise. :) Discovery NavMap - Alpha 429 - 05-17-2006 No that takes the fun out of it. I say we let them attempt to find them first before telling them. But if a trader with a train or something wants to know how to get to delta to trade then i think that is acceptable Discovery NavMap - Ruth Baxter - 05-17-2006 Hi all I'd prefer the way it is.... Much of the fun, when changing the mod, is to find out the new stuff... So I agree with all my fellow mates, that posted above.... :ylove: Ruth Discovery NavMap - Korrd - 05-17-2006 I agree. I remember the old days of OSP. When i completed the game first thing i did was to begin exploring the whole map. It took me like a month to get the whole map revealed. And it was fun. When i completed exploring the map, i got bored. Exploring a la star trek is one of the best parts of the game. Publish a map and you will be killing 50% of the mod's fun. Also, those who wants to get the map revealed, will just use the datastorm. Discovery NavMap - Fellow Hoodlum - 05-17-2006 That will be a no from me aswell ... Nice with a new system or two to actually have to go and explore. Keeps the interest. Hoodlum :) Discovery NavMap - Gwynzer - 05-17-2006 Well... maybe you should print out a map of all the original systems, to show where theere are new bases. Maybe one or 2 other busy systems, such as Alaska and Omicron Delta... but stop around... I dont explore(often), nor do i use datastrom(wont install for some reason), But when I look for a Jumphole I LOOK for it. Discovery NavMap - Chiana - 05-18-2006 gday... I voted "no", but only because there was no inbetween. I think we "could" do a map, showing some of the known systems To raise the appetite of the fellow new player we could spice it up with some "?" and half-done trade-lanes to show.. "there might be sth." But I do not vote for a complete flight-instruction cross sirius... yours Chiana |
