Opinions and Reviews on Liberty Carrier - Singularity - 07-29-2013

Hello Everyone,

Please give me some opinions and reviews about the Liberty Carrier.

Do let me know the good Turrets set-up to put up at least a decent fight.
It has just 2 primaries firing in any one direction.

So, please Guys let me know about this ship's strength and weakness.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

RE: Opinions and Reviews on Liberty Carrier - Switchback - 07-29-2013

Long story short, its kinda bad. actually, worse than kinda. Definitely bad.

Its a bit like the F-35 but in space. It can't turn, can't maneuver, can't run.

Its like a floating punching bag. Against its main rival (the RMBS) its out-everything. Arcs are poor for head on combat, and rear arcs fail as well. It has less armor than the RMBS and less weapons it can bring to bear on the RMBS (at once). Sure its got a plethora of small BS weapon slots, but It doesn't matter. Bomber torp spam will Most definitely ruin you.

The Dreadnought on the otherhand is pretty damn good in a fight (when you know how to fly it). Don't charge, fly at range and hammer your target, dodging any Cerb fire that the RMBS throws at you.

Even then, the main enemy that LNS fight now are Rogue Destroyers, the occational Outcast Storta, and Rheinland Cruisers. All of which will make swiss cheese out of a carrier. Its big, slow, and useless. For RP its nice, and It looks damn sexy, but otherwise.... not useful.

Assuming you ignore everything I say, You need 360 Flak Coverage, to keep Nova's off you. A cloak might also be useful, to run away when Cruisers blot out the sky. Normal solaris are marginally good for anti-bomber, and secondaries will keep the gunboats away. While I hate missilespam, it is effective(ish) to keep cruisers out, but they only work in bulk. If you have a friend in a fighter CDing and confusing the cruisers at the same time that helps...but not by much.

Wrong wrong wrong!!

It can be a pretty good ship with its 2 heavies and 6 priemaries shooting sideways. With a proper dodging technique evading enemy fire is not that hard.

This is an example of a tactic used in a carrier:

The opponent wasn't skilled, so it pretty much only shows how to maneuver this big ship.

To be honest, the carrier fails in group fights because of its flat shape(top and bottom is a big arse bullseye). Even the crapload of secondaries isn't much of a threat to bombers and TSing cruisers.

No matter that, it's possible to use the frontal shape while firing the 3 cerberus on the front slots and strafing while facing the enemy BS, but as I said, the ship can only be used well in duels, and if the opponent BS pilot knows some more than basics of BS fighting tactics, winning a duel in a carrier might be a tough thing to do.

Well, Thanks all for all the reviews, I would really like to know which Battleship would be best for some decent fights ? At least be able to blow up a opponent battleship sometimes ?

I heard the Rheinland Battleship is pretty sweet.
Bret BS is good for fights also I hear.

EDIT: wrong account, again! (angry)

The only thing that the liberty carrier outmaches all ships in this game is area denial of enemy snubs and gunboats, thus the best ship to defend a convoy with. Equip full cerberus + primaries + seccondaries + 4 flak turrets, 2 in front of the ship and 2 in the back of it and u'll be able to defend any transports or fighters before you go down.

Nice sig...

ONTOPIC: Before its nerf everyone said the Osiris was the best BS, now, well they're all pretty balanced really, its mainly player skill, but I believe the simple Lib dread has always been great. However the main question to ask is not which BS is best, but which BS is the most fun? After all, theres no point buying a BS belonging to a faction you dont enjoy playing, or a faction that has nothing to do.

My advice is to find the faction you enjoy playing the most, and use that ones BS.

RE: Opinions and Reviews on Liberty Carrier - Thunderer - 07-29-2013

If you are looking for the best ship to fight other capital ships with, you are certainly looking for the Valor.

She can fire no heavy turrets backwards*, also not at point blank downwards and upwards, has only 1700 regens**, and her top and bottom profiles are so damn big***.

Well... why is the Valor good then?

Because you would, if you stopped whining, notice that she has a forward gun. And not just a plain, sucky FG like those little gunboats and cruisers have. This one deals 650k damage to the enemy, using only 2.4mils energy, and it can hurl its giant ball of death every 10 seconds, making it the 1st gun in the game by damage per second. Furthermore, it doesn't use that little red crosshair to aim, so your enemies won't be able to escape its grudge by strafing in order to move their crosshair on all possible sides. The FG allows you to shoot where YOU think the target will be. In combination with a missile and a pulse, it allows you to pew those little, annoying Bretonian battleships from distance, far from their cerbs. You can evade mortars pretty well by strafing up-down, but a Dunkirk will always evade cerbs better than you, so don't enter a cerb battle. Rely on your mighty forward gun to annihilate them from range. Oh, and one more thing - IT'S BLUE!

* I can show you a maneuver to counter your enemies trying to stab their guns into your butt.
** You won't even need regens if you stay at range and FG them. And if they charge you, the Dunkirks, 1700 is enough. It is 6-cerbed Redemptions that you have to be afraid of. But, don't worry - most of them are utter noobs.
*** Keep bombers away from those parts by turning in turret view. You can strafe pretty well if the enemy is facing your front, or side. Or even TS.

The Liberty Carrier is being changed in 4.87, so we'll have to wait and see what happens to it.
