Help! - Seth Karlo - 07-11-2008

Ok, first and formost, this is NOT a problem with connections....

This is ma problem:

I will open up freelancer, and it either starts it up as Version 1.0 or starts it up as 4.84 but crashes just after the FREELANCER screen.

I have freshly installed everything (re downloaded FLMM, FAM, Discovery aswell) 3 times now, and it will work the first time I do so, then not work until I re-install everything again.

Freelancer works fine without Disco installed, so I believe that the problem lies in FLMM...

My main reason for this is that the FLMM icon now has a little Windows secuirity shield on it. So i think that Vista is somehow blocking FLMM from installing the mod properly...

Any ideas/solutions would be VERY helpful! I want to play FL again!

Thanks,

Seth (Andy)

Have you tired running FLMM with Admin rights?

I completely took UAC (User account control) off. I just don't feel like having it on and questioning my wisdom what I should do and not do.

If you feel like you need to have UAC on then execute the FLMM installer with admin rights.

And are you using beta version of the FLMM?

Have tried running it with Adminb rights, how do I take UAC off?

Also, have tried using 1.3 and 1.4 Beta, Same problem...:(

EDIT: Have now turned off UAC and will test the problem again in about 2 minutes...

Shame noone reads this forum...:(

'pologies for double post

But disabling the UAC has fixed it! (I think)

Yeah, it was Vista being Vista

I have no problems with vista

but i can say this, Don't install the freelancer and its mod in there standert root

Put everything in C:\Freelancer and the rest under it

I did this on all the computers with vista and it works for me

I hope this helps for you

Interesting idea...

Not sure how/why it would work, but if Freelancer ever decides to have a tantrum again I'll try it.

Thanks!

Wel i think the Program Files root is somehow blocking some data

Also with other games i installing direct on C:\ and never had any problems
