The founding members of the group were the Shogun’s Royal Guard during the Hideyoshi family dynasty. In a bloody coup during the celebration of the revived Sakura festival in 321 AS, the Shogun was surrounded in the palace by Samura-backed elements of the military and asked to surrender, along with the Royal Guard. The Shogun, humiliated by the shame he had brought his family, committed seppuku. The guards, headed by Kozue Okamura, did not acquiesce so easily. In a bloody battle, they fought their way out of the palace and retreated into the darkness of northern Kusari space.
They adopted the new name of the Blood Dragons, however, a small group of them kept their original name, but held the same values and objectives, the Hideyoshi’s Guard developed outside of the proposed Kyoto Base, one system away, in Tau-63, and in 325 AS, they set up Mito Base, a small sanctuary for the Hideyoshi’s Guard pilots. Over 200 years, as the Blood Dragon movement gained momentum, they found themselves needing an increasingly larger demand for ships for the newer members, and at certain points, there were only 2 ships to each 3 pilots. The Blood Dragons eventually requested that Mito Base, the only other operational Blood Dragon base at that time, was converted into a Shipyard to build Fighters, Bombers and Gunboats for the Blood Dragons. The construction of this shipyard was kept secret from all, and most of the suppliers were paid hefty bonuses for secrecy, and any that asked too many questions were often killed, many experienced engineers defected during this stage, providing the Dragons with adequate talent to modify and improve the existing Kusari Naval Forces designs, interested in the new project, providing the Blood Once construction was complete, the base was re-christened to Mito Shipyards, the Blood Dragons and Hideyoshi’s Guard merged with the Blood Dragons, over 100 years ago.
The recent troubles with NovaPG resulted in the creation of two splinter groups; the remnant of NovaPG, and a new group, who adopted the name of Hideyoshi’s Guard, in honor of the recently merged faction.
The Hideyoshi’s Guard work towards the same goals as the Blood Dragons, however, their methods are slightly different, they do not believe it is the fault of any Gajiin in Kusari that the Corsair-Hogosha-Samura government is dishonourable, and refrain from performing terrorist acts against them. Their alliances with the GC are also much stronger than the main-stream Blood Dragon faction, and are rumored to allow certain GC pilots to fly their highly coveted ships.
