FLight Club: Discovery PvP Tournament - The Doctor - 08-17-2013

Tournament date: September 7th, 19h-21h GMT
FINAL FIGHTERS LIST OUT

The first rule of FLight Club is: You do not talk about FLight Club.
The second rule of FLight Club is: You do not talk about FLight Club.
Third rule of FLight Club: Someone yells stop, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over.
Fourth rule: only two guys to a fight.
Fifth rule: one fight at a time, fellas.
Sixth rule: no hacks, no lags.
Seventh rule: Fights will go on as long as they have to.
And the eighth and final rule: If you lost at FLight Club, you cannot whine or cry or complain because we will ignore you.

The FLight Club

Welcome all, to the first instance of the FLight Club! A (hopefully) reccuring tournament pitching Disco's finest PvPers against one another... or just random people looking for a fight. Anyway.

Competition will be held in Connecticut, each confrontation overseen by an Angel. The Angels will be responsible for monitoring the fight to avoid hacks, lags, cheating or any kind of unfair wibbly wobbly advantag-y strategem of any kind.

The Tournament:
Entrance to the tournament requires the upfront payment of 1 million credits per inscription. The tournament will have prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, and every fourth player will receive his inscription money back.

Organization:
The Tournament will be divided into 6 categories:
* Light Fighter
* Heavy Fighter
* Transports
* Gunship
* Cruisers
* Battleships

Light Fighter includes every LF and Interceptor ship out there.
Heavy Fighter includes HF, SHF, VHF, and any other HF-y variation.
Transports includes transports. Surprise.
Gunship includes all Gunship and Gunboats.
Cruisers include cruisers.
And Battleships include Battleships, Dreadnaughts, Carriers, and a Death Star.

Yes, you can sign yourself up for more than one category. No, the buy-in only covers one category per fee.
Fights will be organized randomly, 8 participants in each category. We may open more spots depending of interest... or not.

Fights!
All participants of a given category will be around in Connecticut forming a nice little ring around the fighters. Only one fight takes place at a time, and no interference from watchers is allowed -- interference will be punished with admin action.

One Angel will preside over each category, and that includes stuff like watching for hacks, running lag checks on the fighters, scanning the participants and keeping an eye out for bot/bat feed and assorted interference. Admins will be close by ready to drop into action if needed.

The idea of this is to match up (heh) fun and skill, so everyone that likes PvP'ing or just have that little itchy finger on trigger can have a good time. Fights are to be fair, and there won't be rematches.

Prizes:
The prizes of each category are:

LF:
* 3rd: An amount of money to be determined from the entry cost total
* 2nd: UA8
* 1st: Cheetah Thruster

HF:
* 3rd: An amount of money to be determined from the entry cost total
* 2nd: Cheetah Thruster

* 2nd: Cloaking Device Mk2
* 1st: Spyglass Scanner

Cruisers:

* 1st: CAU8

BS:
* 3rd: An amount of money to be determined from the entry cost total
* 2nd: Cloaking Device Mk2 Advanced
* 1st: CAU8

And the 4th place of every category will receive their buy-in back.

Time and Place:
The tournament will take place at 19-21 GMT of September 7th at the Connecticut system. All participants are to enter battle with full ammo, full bots, and full bats on their holds. Every ship that do not arrive until 19:30 will be disqualified.

Players not signed up for the FLight Club that interfere with the competion will be banned. Players signed up for the FLight Club that interfere with the competion will be banned and I will personally track their IP down and beat them to death with a chair.

Also, I suppose moving the tourney to the Saturday (one day back). Some people have to get up early on Mondays and might not participate for it being too late.

I'd be very content with that, and would bring a battleship if it happens.

Also, I think 2 categories are bit unfair: HF, where one could bring SHF and steer/zoom anyone, since bombers are not included, or even AI drone.
And transports, where we have ships of all size and power. I wonder if any transport can deal with salvager.

RE: FLight Club: Discovery PvP Tournament - Karst - 08-19-2013

Why do snubs have lower prizes than larger ships? It's not like they require less skill.

Also, I second the concerns about all non-LF fighters being in the same category, a heavy fighter can't do anything whatsoever against a turretsteering Arrastra.

I've personally killed Salvagers on my Pelican, without losing my shields. Bigger is not better, especially when it comes to transports.

But aaaaanyway.....I'm in, because why not.

Ingame transport PvP heavy depends on armor, so I haven't proper experience. For example, I've never found a match to my cau8 Bretliner, especially because all other transports were unarmored or au8.

So you maybe right here. But anyway, pelican hadn't CD and bigger transport can simply cruise right into it.
