All the new metal commodities. - tothebonezone - 10-21-2013 So, all the new metals are pretty cool. New commodities to mix things up are always cool. So, uh. Why are they all only sold in Gallia? It'd be nice to trade these new metals and such around in various transports supplying god knows what, but for some reason, apparently Gallia has exclusive access to pretty much every available metal in Sirius that isn't Gold, Silver, or Copper. Can we fix that? RE: All the new metal commodities. - tothebonezone - 10-21-2013 Gadolinium, Holmium, Magnets, Molybdenum, Nickel, Neodymium, Palladium, Plastics, Samarium, Shape-memory Alloy, Tantalum, Tellurium, Titanium, Vanadium, Yttrium, Zinc. These are all things exclusive to Gallia. While I understand some houses have their quirks, tons and tons of industrial materials that are common are EXCLUSIVE to Gallia lawful bases. And they're hardly useful for Gallic internal trading, as they offer little to no profit (Seen like 400 profit/unit at most) Why do these exist if no one can access them? EDIT: By exclusive, it's more accurate to say 'Available at a price that isn't in the several thousands a unit'. But exclusive is shorter to type. You want Gallia to have the gold, silver and copper as well? ![]() inRP makes some sense and Gallia needs the raw material so maybe would expect to pay best price? RE: All the new metal commodities. - Soul Reaper - 10-21-2013 Uhh hello, Tunicle, whoever you are. Plastics? Titanium? What, Gallia is the only house that can make Plastics now? Oh and they have all the not-even-rare minerals now too, nice, I wonder what all our technology is made up of. Silver and Gold I guess, according to our economy, ye. Oh wait, I called it an Economy, I meant Xoria's Imagination. Sorry. RE: All the new metal commodities. - Echo 7-7 - 10-21-2013 Gallia having so many different (and new) commodities is a legacy of the house's introduction to the mod. Due to its initial (and current?) isolation, Xoria designed it such that the house's internal economy was essentially independent of the other houses, with exceptions for some inter-house trade runs. Therefore, it was no doubt easier for him to build on that foundation, despite the house being slightly more accessible; since many of the new commodities were metals, that's why they ended up in Gallia. The post was edited after my reply RE: All the new metal commodities. - Soul Reaper - 10-21-2013 @Echo Yes I can understand that, Gallia was supposed to be independent. But that doesn't mean that those commodities don't exist in Sirius, right? I mean, we're talking about stuff that is used on almost every level of industry here. Plastics, Magnets, Neodymium (which is basically magnets anyway), Titanium, etc. I mean sure, if you made-up some super rare mineral commodity that only exists in Gallia, then yeah, but some of those things -should- exist everywhere. RE: All the new metal commodities. - tothebonezone - 10-21-2013 Precisely my point. Plastics? Okay yeah, they use oil a LOT, they can have a monopoly on it, while other houses have more expensive stocks of it. And they have some superalloy I didn't list because it was clearly stated for Gallia. But a lot of the names we all recognize (Titanium, Nickel, Zinc) are pretty damn widespread. RE: All the new metal commodities. - Kazinsal - 10-21-2013 The problem is that Gallia' internal economy can't sustain itself. There is no good trade route within Gallia. RE: All the new metal commodities. - tothebonezone - 10-21-2013 Ok I lied the routes do become mildly profitable for some of the materials. Call me entitled, but I'd sure like to trade some of them in Sirius though. |
