Screensaver problem - Heartless - 07-23-2008 I use a small wireless mouse on my laptop because the touchpad freaks out and I hate it... anyways, when the mouse is not plugged in (through the little USB thing that send the wireless signal to the actual mouse), the screensaver works fine after the set time. However, whent he mouse is plugged in, the screensaver never shows up. I really want it to since I leave my laptop on alot and the screensaver saves energy, so right now I'm just wasting energy, and I can't seem to figure out how to make it work. Any ideas? Thanks. Screensaver problem - DBoy1612 - 07-23-2008 Have it throw itself in to Standby instead if you want to save more energy? Screensaver problem - Boss - 07-23-2008 Close the lid... The screensaver doesn't come on because of the pad. If it's damaged as you say, it twitches from time to time and keeps the computer thinking you're using it. Just disable the pad ind it should be fine. Also close the lid. Screensaver problem - looqas - 07-23-2008 What boss said with one addition. The screensaver does not save energy in any way. It might even consume more if the screensaver uses directx to draw the things thus making the graphics card to enter 3D mode sucking battery dry. The powersaving options do save the energy. Screensaver problem - Coin - 07-23-2008 i have the same set up (laptop, wireless mouse) my wireless mouse is very sensitive, so when a lorry goes past my house, the vibrations move the mouse, the screensaver turns off, my bedroom lights up and its 5am and im thinking...'why am i awake now?' is your mouse on a COMPLETELY flat surface? they slide, and send data, keeping it out of screensave is the mouse sensitivity set way high? does setting the touch pad to automatic deactivation when an external mouse is plugged in fix the problem? does unplugging the wireless mouse usb stalk fix the problem? do you have any device conflicts? have you ever used your mouse in conjunction with a ouija board, and are still getting messages from beyond the grave? Screensaver problem - Heartless - 07-23-2008 mmm... basically when the mouse is not plugged in the screensaver works, but when the mouse is plugged in it doesn't. Screensaver problem - looqas - 07-24-2008 It does not work because it senses movement from the USB mouse thus never entering the screensaver mode. You could try out the "test" option and see if it comes out of screensaver test mode on it's own. It does not fix the problem but gives you a dead sure evidence that you USB mouse "senses" movement. |
