liberty officers attacking me - crusading_angels - 11-12-2013
I have a freelancer id so does my dad and uncle we all play on the 24/7 server and fly cargo all over space where we can. we have never had trouble til just a little bitt ago. I fly a behemoth with the freelancer id. I have this random liberty officer say I was being illegal cuz of my ship in liberty space. this is the 1st I had heard of this. I told him I didn't no of this rule and he them demanded a LARGE amount of money. those factions may be at war but im not part of those factions I am a freelancer. this officer was in a LIGHT FIGHTER not a bomber. he almost killed me and he did destroy my dads freighter. I would like to know how he did this in a light fighter by his self against 2 freighters and barely took any damage.

Because transports (If you said you were flying a Behem which is a transport, not a freighter) are generally ill equipped to deal with combat ships. If you had slow guns instead of Dulzian turrets, then your chances against a smart LF were next to none, especially if it was a boxing libby.
As for your situation with legality, I suggest you get a better ship as soon as it is possible. Behe is damn nice, true, but as you saw there are people, who will shoot you for it in Liberty.

It is always useful to be aware of the Laws of the House you are travelling through. Once you find your way there, it is not hard to find out that Liberty only allows ALG to fly Behemoth in their space.
About how he has been capable of such, I don't really find enough details in your description to judge. What armor did you guys have on your ships? How long did it take for him to take your hull down?

he destroyed my dad pretty quickly we have the advanced transport shields on both of our ships and explained we didn't no this rule and that I was new to the server. we hit him a lot with our guns but he would take hardly no damage from this. and after I docked then undocked I was destroyed in a manner of seconds by a light fighter I fired at him he DID NOT take no damage what so ever from this. he told me to leave the system and I told him I would and he demanded the large amount of money. now my question how can I fly the behemoth without having trouble. what does it mean by correct papers. I am just a freelancer

If he was LPi, LSF or LN
1. He had all right to stop you it in the law for them to do and Rp.
2. He can fine you
3. He can demand you to change your ship and take you to nears station
4. He can lead you out of liberty and warn you not to come back with at ship
if you run and don't comply with he's demands that can lead to your death
if you dad had a ship that was aloud then he would of been safe
only ALG are aloud in liberty
If you want to fly around with freelancer id and be a trader best use a BW transport. Or fire fly
and yes a LF can kill freighter easy since their weapons are very good at DPS

So your ignorance at the house rules gets your toon blown up... hit respawn, and try again - lesson learned the hard way. If you wish to fly the Behemoth, choose routes that do not take you into Liberty. Travelling between Rheinland, Kusari, Bretonia and Gallia shouldn't be an issue. You'll still meet pirates that might blow you up though. Transports are weak ships that primarily make credits by trading - they are not suitable for combat, usually.

Also, regardless of how some of us feel or the debate that is ongoing, the fact that you fly with a Freelancer ID cannot be taken into consideration. ID"s are outside of roleplay meaning they're not supposed to be acknowledge in game. It may seem wierd but if everyone sticks to that it is doable.
So if you had no IFF they will simply judge you based on what you're doing, and at that moment, you were in Liberty space (i assume) in a Rhienland ship, which is prohibitied by Liberty House Law. Basically if you fly a ship belonging to any faction hostile to liberty, you'll be targeted. Sometimes you'll get someone nice, if they realize you're just learning the laws and get let off with a warning. Unfortunately you had to learn the hard way, it happens, just try to take it in stride. If players didnt take the inRP laws seriously, the inRP universe would slowly degrade.
So if you want to be seen as a freelancer, head to somewhere like Barrier Gate Station in Coronado and get a Freelancer IFF. Aside from that, its all you can to do avoid being confused as something else. It still won't save you from Liberty laws in this case though, so if you frequent Lib space, I'd get another ship as well.
Remember that the current rule says people must treat you by your IFF (if you have one) and the ID is there to tell if you're violating server rules (i.e. if someone pirates you, even with a freelancer IFF, they must have a pirate ID, else they could be sanctioned, etc). So you could even get a LN IFF, the navy might demand you change your ship next time instead of blowing you up, but you'd still take heat since LN is prohibited from using enemy ships.
