New PC? - Turkish - 08-03-2008
Right now the PC I'm using is aged, and its aging eve more as we speak. So, we all know what that means? Yes we do, time for a new build. I've been going over it for the past day or two, kudos and thanks to McNeo for his help and thoughts. What I'm looking for is feedback and suggestions. I'm open to just about anything but I'd rather not break the $1,000 mark by too much if I can.
Right now I have about three LGA775 builds floating around my head, but I'll only be posting one for now, please, tear it apart, look it over and make suggestions. If you're going to be posting links to products I'd appreciate it if you'd take the time to link to a Canadian retailers, NCIX and Anitec are my preferred shopping grounds.

The DFI LP Dk P45-T2RS is on the top of my list, its a keen motherboard with a full feature set. But likewise its more expensive than some other, and equally capable counterparts like Asus' P5Q Pro.

Good setup, you can just add an aftermarket cooler on the 4850. Another option to drastically improve speed is to RAID your HDD's in raid 0(Striping) configuration. I use raid on all the gaming machines I build, mostly with 3 HDD's.

You are pretty much set there Turkish.
I'd ponder a bit more about the mobo though. Unless you need all the bells and whistles you could go way cheaper. Of course if you are a over-clocker then you need a quality mobo. The one thing that would make me cringe from the mobo is that it only supports 800MHZ DDR2 mem. There's no upgrade path for you later.
For comparison I have an Asus P5KC, which supports 4 x DDR2 (upto 667/800/1066 MHz) or 2 x DDR3 (800/1066/1333 MHz) memory sets. It over-clocks very well and really I have no complaints whatsoever. And it's even cheaper (148 at ncix). So unless you really need the features of DFI take a good look at P5KC for example.
Another point is that I'd think a bit longer if you'd rather go with quad core than dual. I know the days of quad core are not on top of us yet, but I get the feeling that you keep your setups long (2-3 years) and changing a processor is always not really on top of upgrading list after you've made the initial choice.
I'd go with quad if I were you. The loss of extra hertz will not be the bottleneck in your gaming, be that crysis or other modern game. It's the graphics card.

The Q6600 were among the first Quad cores made by Intel, thus they are beginning to get old...
what to check when you want a CPU:
The FSB
The Cache 4mb and +, S'il vous plait
The Frequency
The price.

Anything beyond a Q6600 is pretty much out of my price range for this, even the final budget is in the air right now so I'm trying to be economically savvy. Part of the reason I picked the two aforementioned sites was because I can do in person pickup there saving myself shipping fees, something I can't with places like Tigerdirect.

Don't go for a Quad....
There are a very few people who really require 4 cores... Besides C2D are much easier to overclock than quads - 4 cores = more heat
Go for a cheaper duo and get a Zalman CNPS9700 aftermarket cooler and overclock that baby if you
want more speed.
Spend less on the CPU, more on Mobo/Graphics...
