Red is dead - Coin - 01-14-2014 WARNING: THIS IS NOT A QQ THREAD. No discovery players were harmed during the making of this post. Right, now that's over, I had a thought. SP campaign, red is dead. corsair sees an baffie? all you hear is 'engaging Gold 3' and pew commences. OC arrives? oc jumps on the sair, and then when the sair is down, attacks the baffie. All is fair in love and warcraft. with the recent introduction of the nommie/xeno 'red is dead' right, I got to thinking: what if a player with a proper id/iff could engage an enemy only with the most basic of RP - a target indication to wingmates. Freelancer iff/pirate Id players would have to engage in full roleplay before pew. of course, a full iff doesnt mean that you have carte blanche to attack a zoner - your ID is not red to them. you may be personally, but that is by the by. the wording of the rule would be: Quote:Players who's Id matches their IFF may engage fully hostile targets, as according to their factions' reputation RE: Red is dead - sindroms - 01-14-2014 This would bring a LOT of QQ from freelancer IDed players, who get attacked by players whose FL rep is red, while their rep with the attacker's faction is green. A lot of QQ. Most faction reps are not rephacked and depend on the individual. Don't fix what is not broken. RE: Red is dead - Jack_Henderson - 01-14-2014 How about... no? RE: Red is dead - Sava - 01-14-2014 Factions have their enemies listed in their infocards. I am sure that Coin was talking about those, because each individual has his own quite ooRP rep list, plus all those guerd reps... I was wandering about this matter since I started playing here - why the hell can't we just shoot those filthy red corsairs right away? RE: Red is dead - Kazinsal - 01-14-2014 I fail to see any problem at all with the way we've been doing it for years. RE: Red is dead - Aphil - 01-15-2014 It honestly doesn't take much to have justification to kill someone at the moment anyway. You can effectively do what you describe. The SCRA for example can find a Police Fighter in space for example and basically go "Ah, a member of the corrupt police force. Prepare to die." or something like that and then engage. I'm only using the SCRA as an example of course, I obviously expect them to give higher quality than that. RE: Red is dead - LunaticOnTheGrass - 01-15-2014 Well at least we're not being told "People are leaving Disco because they have to RP too much before engaging" in this thread. RE: Red is dead - Sava - 01-15-2014 Want the truth? That's one of the things that repel new players (even native English speakers) from the server. Also, I don't see in which way silent engagement (if it is for a reason) breaks the immersion. For me it's rather something like "Oh, I need to say something now, or I'm gonna get sanctioned. Brb, locking the afterburn, typing". |
