In last few days i got offers to get gunboat and battleship shiled for my Luxury liner....
I didnt take it cause i think that isnt alowed...but others said that it is...
So my question for admins or anybody with knowledge of this is:
Are GB, cruiser or BS shields alowed for Lux and Prison liner?
{ and it they are i think nothing above GB shiled shouldnt be alowed }
I think this will finnaly clear up all questions that everybody (including me) might have...
Also if this topic isnt ment to be here please move it...

well, I tend to agree with you but I've seen players having them mounted, so, since I have a spare one left over from my BSA but not mounted it yet... I'm waiting to see a final decision...

The last time this came up it never got answered.
I too think the luxury liner should be classed as a light cruiser, same with the prison liner. Though some people think it should be classed as a transport, which I think is strange when (assuming the power didn't get altered) a luxury liner has a better power supply then a BS.
If it is supposed to be a transport vessel then the turret class needs to be lowered and the energy supply dropped.
But I doubt that the question will get answered this time, it'll probably devolve into another flame thread or something.

YES or NO to the mounting of the shields?..and if yes ...wich?

Well I'm guessing since they come with their own shields that those should be the only ones used on it. I believe that the liner shield is slightly below or slightly above the gunboat shield. Also it might be that it has a high power (NOT as high as a battleship, don't know where you got that from) to inflict heavy damage then the small shield so it is destroyable easily. Adding in the possibility of being a support ship that falls back everytime an enemy attacks then comes back in when the ship is distracted. then again I could always be wrong and it just hasn't been changed yet, but will be. Only god knows, and as some of you know, Igiss is god on Discovery.

The liners come with either a champion or adv. champion freighter shield. Both of which can be take down with one shot from an inferno BS turret.
A luxury liner can get 20+ shots out of an inferno BS turret, when firing just the inferno BS turret, before you don't have enough energy to fire again (yes I counted).
A BS can get off maybe 5 - 7 shots tops and thats with just one.

Check the shields. Its not the actual champion freighter shield, thats just the name, and the shield it was made off of. But it is stronger than that shield.

I did, several times.
It is sold with either the champion or adv. champion freighter shield, the same one that gets sold with the train and large train, not a higher powered version.
Thats the main reason why I thought they should be able to use gunboat or cruiser shields.
Using a BS shield would be a bit much on a ship with 19000 (? not sure it's the exact number...) armour before you multiple it by any upgrades you've got mounted.

Heh.. this could be a pretty lively debate.
Lux Liner/Prisoner Transports are classified as WHAT? heh. i'm debating that one myself.
Perosnally, they pretty much classify as cruisers at best. i will go out of my way and say that Battleship Shields are FORBIDDEN on anything other than a Battleship.
Personally. Maximum class i'd allow on these ships (Lux Liner/Prisoner Transport) is cruiser shield. no higher.
Dab: We're not really going by shield name or how powerful it is. We're going by CLASS of ship. That's the real question anyway.
So.. Guys.. maximum class I'll allow until Igiss, Sam and I come up with a better ruling is CRUISER. Anyone flying around in those ships with battleship shield will be asked to remove them, or i'll remove them myself until we get a better ruling.
Will this satisfy all parties ?
