Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - sindroms - 02-09-2014 Sup. This is just a what-if thread. Not a suggestion. Also, it is not supposed to be a good idea. Mkay? Good. Okay, so the principle is simple. Respect and reputation keeps people in line. What if we completely abandon the concept of anonymity for the sake improving ingame interactions. The idea is to implement a /whois command, which is linked to the forum account. Got a bad experience? You know who it was. Or who it wasn't. (For the sake of this idea, let's say you cannot use alt forum accs, as they automatically merged or marked as your primary one.) The community deals with problematic characters. People who cause problems are then hunted down ingame on any alt they use, because they cannot hide. Discuss. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Vrabcek - 02-09-2014 I think its sometimes good not to know who is behind the character you are interacting with... RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Narcotic - 02-09-2014 Reminds me of a suggestion of mine I made some while ago. I wouldn't mind if we could identify each other. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Lythrilux - 02-09-2014 That awkward moment when you /whois during cyber an and it'd an admin. Reminds me of when I met Cannon's pirate. No doubt about it. Though what would happen if that wasn't an option? RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Tachyon - 02-09-2014 I wouldn't mind the implementation of the idea. But I am not sure about adding another FLhook before the lag issues have been, somewhat, sorted out. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Deatlev - 02-09-2014 This is what I do if I wanna know: I PM and ask politely: Who are you on the forums? RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Karst - 02-09-2014 (02-09-2014, 02:45 PM)Vrabcek Wrote: I think its sometimes good not to know who is behind the character you are interacting with... Absolutely. If I interact with someone I know, I'll inevitably treat them differently, even if it's unconsciously. The most authentic interactions are between people that don't know each other. RE: Drunk Sunday What IF thread: Abandonment of anonymosity ingame - Mercarryn - 02-09-2014 Although I can see the advantage that oorp troll players cannot hide anymore behind unknown chars, it might equally initiate cyber-bullying of certain people. Something I disapprove. Another point is: What about characters on shared accounts? How do you want to know who is on that shared account? Does it always link to the person that is on it now? |
